Are you referring to the book by Goodman Games? If it is that one, it doesn't come out till December I think.

Yeah, thats the one. I could have sworn that I saw a Novemeber release date at one point.

On the 7th of this month I got an e-mail from Joeseph Goodman saying the release date is going to be about Dec 12. I do have a copy that I'm going to be reviewing so if you want so info on it I can see what I can scare up.

Indeed, after some trials and tribulations Etherscope will be released on the 12th December, a rousing hoorah from all concerned. In the mean time I'll answer what questions I can and there is plenty of discussion and feedback going on at the fan site

where currently we're talking about Victorian clothing, how its changed in the Etherscope setting and if the game benefits from guidance on such issues! You can also check out art and system previews via the Goodman Games website

http://www.goodman-games.com/index.php

which should give you a good insight into the directions we have gone with the game, plus get to see my favourite picture-its the gentleman buying scope tabs in the shop. You did see a November release date but if its any consolation the delays have been frustrating us so I hope you'll bear with us.

Is Etherscope using the D20 Modern rules?

It's very close to D20 Modern. In terms of the base system, we've rejigged the skills a bit and rebuilt the basic classes for flavour. Other than that I suppose you could just say its got our favourite house rules :): 3.5 Grappling rules, Bind replacing disarm & sunder (see our Martial Avengers product for this system) and a saving throw for death and dying rather than dropping to -10 hp.

On top of that there's a whole bunch of new stuff specific to Etherscope: a new skills & talents occult powers system, expanded netrunning (or "Scope-riding" as we call it) rules (similar to VR-net stuff but better :)), new systems for Matrix-style combat in the Scope, new systems to handle Victorian-style social structures, a new personality system and more.

Cheerio,

Ben
