Etherscope?

OK, I picked this up last week and am still going through it but from what I have seen so far its fantastic. I love products like this. Interesting setting, interesting and new mechanics. The perfect RPG book. I frequently buy books just for the setting, and just as often simply for the mechanics. This is one of the few in recent memory that combines both. My only complaint is a few minor issues of readability/font/layout (notably the difficulty in the "ether-monster" section in figuring out where new entires begin) but when alot of the people you hang around with are in publications you tend to pick up on their pickiness. Nothing that would stop me from recommending this book, however.

I am looking forward to the Great Metropolis supplement. Which brings me to a few questions:

1) With several mechanical additions to the d20 M basic material, any chance of seeing a easy handout for players or a "things to watch for" guide for GMs? I'm not talking about big things like the variant base classes, but more like a handy reference for things like influences and new skills etc.

2) Any other products beyond Great Metropolis forthcoming? The joy of the strong setting and new mechanics still cries out for more.

3) Related to 2): Any interest in pitches for new material or adventures?

Thanks Malladin for a great product!

Well, time to boost up a thread that got damaged in the great crash of 2006.

The Great Metropolis is out as is a nice small adventure called Just a Delievery. I don't know what further they will have for the setting, hopefully more though. The Great Metropolis really captures the feel of the a city of 100 million. There are plenty of movers and shakers in the city and I really like the descriptions and going ons.

So, anyone had a chance to do something with the setting?

Will Etherscope be edible? Can it heal the sick?
Etherscope KNOW NO LIMIT !!!!1!!!1!!!

There. I said it.

I am seriously looking forward to this product. It will completely serve all of my campaign needs... I hope. :)

Don't forget Etherscope- Upload: Etherpunk soon to be released.

Not only is the setting great but mechanically there are some very interesting subsystems that i have cannabilized for other games including:
-language rules that make sense
-social interaction rules and social influence rules
-fighting style skill that allows access to virtual feats and special moves
-setting appropriate magic and psychic abilities.

Excellent product, well worth your money and/or time.

I found Lemurian Candidate to be an excellent module, and would highly reccomend it to anyone wanting to pick up a solid introductry adventure for Etherscope.

How's it compaire to Just a Delievery?

There are a number of important differences in the style and structure of the two adventures.

Just a Delivery
- is designed as a one-session game. I ran it at GenCon UK in approximately 4 hours.
- Can be easily tweaked in different directions for different types of party and be linked in to your own campaigns
- There is not too much depth to the adventure, unless you add it yourself (which may be a good or bad thing, depending on what you want the adventure for)

The Lemurian Candidate
- is very much an investigation, and may not suit every game style without a bit more work.
- is a more extended adventure with a number of different twists and turns before it concludes.
- is set in Birmingham (England), not the Great Metropolis (a good or bad point depending on your PoV)
- will be part of an extended series of adventures that link together or can be run independently.

Don't forget that there's also two adventures in the core rulebook and in the Great Metropolis. I've run Analogue (in the core rulebook) many times, and am now playing in it and have always found it a classic Etherscope adventure, pulling together all the elements that I want to play in an Etherscope game. I'm also currently running Tripple Cross (from TGM) and finding that to be an excellent introduction to the depth (excuse the pun) of the Sewer kingdoms of TGM.

Cheerio,

Ben
