eTools 1.2 & Exotic Materials

Am I blind...??? I can't find the location to add Exotic Materials. In eTools (the only thing I found is when creating a character you can give him a "new weapon" and when the screen pops up you can select material), nor can i find a table within the database itself. and in etHelper (data-editor), menu material is disabled. anyone to light my way? thanx

The tables you want are info Exotic Material, info Exotic Material Properties, info Exotic Objects.

You add your new material to info Exotic Material, then define the properties of that material when made into objects in info Exotic Material Properties. After you've done this you should then start up e-Tools, go to houserules/materials and assign what can be made with your new entry (you could do this by adding to info Exotic Objects yourself, but doing it in e-Tools is easier). You should now be able to select the material when creating a new item.

Hmm, that's odd -- once the patch is installed you should be able to use davin's new ET Helper to edit or create materials (I did).

Do you have multiple etools installs? If so you will have to make ET Helper "forget" the location of the older install. (Next to the Exit button on ETH is a dropdown menu, one choice is Forget Database Location).

Otherwise maybe we can get Davin in here to help with this aspect of it.

Another possibility is that he's using the old ET Helper (or wasn't there even a materials tab then???)

thanx for helping. have the problem resolved. somehow, the database was NOT updated when i installed the 1.2-patch over my 1.01-eTools version. After uninstalling old etools and then installing 1.2, all was fine: suddenly the exotic material tables were in the database and etHelper showed the material-menu as enabled :-)

Super! I'm glad you got it working. More than likely, ET Helper was pointing at an old version of eTools (and that's why the Materials menu was disabled). (And no, there was no Materials menu for previous versions of ETH.) By deleting the old version of eTools, ETH could no longer find your old database so it went hunting for your new one. As Eric noted, you could have forced this to happen with "Forget Database Location" easier.

(And it should be easier to use ETH than edit it in Access, unless you really like doing things the hard way. :p )

Ok, next one ;-) Baatorian Green Steel, giving you +1 enhancement to damage (but not to attack). How can I assign that bonus? If assigning as an enhancement bonus, this would give +1 to attack and damage, or am I wrong here?

Thanx

Unfortunately, CMP lumped the bonuses to attack & damage together in the DB so they can't be separated at this time. There's a trick that Adamantine uses when combining with the masterwork-only flag, but that won't help you here (it adjusts the wrong thing).
