This is not a thread to deride 4E, attack WotC or badwrongfun others. it is a thread to say goodbye to those sacred D&D cows that have gone away with 4E. Please try and keep it civil.

Random Treasure

I will miss you so. Who else could have given my lowly 2nd level cleric an orb of annihilation, or bequeathed upon my might 16th level paladin a short sword +1/+3 vs good elves? I will miss your mercurial nature, your inspiring randomness, your ability to create chaos at my table with a single clatter of d%.

PS: Shouldn't this be on the 4E forum?

Well, it isn't specifically about rules, so I figured it could go into General. But if the mods want to move it, they shall.

Nope, it's right where it should be.

I stand here to remember first level characters with 6 hit points, carefully picking their way through a dungeon because they're terrified the first hit might kill them. You will be remembered.

I will miss all those random treasure charts as well. I only used them for a starting point... but they were so much fun. And if they gave me something awesomely useless (or useful) and my PCs stared at me in disbelief, I could give them a thumbs up, wink, and say, "Rolled for it."

...I'll miss that.

(Or I'll just make my own charts....)

Here's to Chaotic Good. Alignment of Champions.

"Do whatever you want, just be nice while you're doing it."

I'll miss both Dungeon and Dragon, which were the first sacred cows slaughtered in preparation for this new age.

I'll miss the covers, the advertisements, the adventures, the comics, the stories and the content that we used to pass around the gaming table to collective statements that went something like this
"ooo that's nice!"
"Damn ... that is my next character."
"Wire templates in the shape of fire-balls ..... Brilliant!"
and ...
"No Scott, you cant play that PrC. It's broken."
