I am currently ruling that the effect lasts as long as the character keeps moving or the combat ends, whichever comes first.

From the PHB page 190 under Movement and Position:

In combat, characters and monsters are in constant motion, often using movement and position to gain the upper hand.

So to me, combatants are considered to be moving unless they take express action that stops them. Stopping to grapple a stationary target, pausing to open a door or gate, retrieving a dropped weapon, etc. would all require movement to be temporarily halted thus ending the maneuver.

If the character wishes to move around the battlefield and keeps moving every turn, then the maneuver can last the entire fight.
