Well, it helps to know where the spell comes from in the first place...

In EQ, the disintigrate spell is designed to let a wizard deal with what is refered to as "yard trash" or "greenies" or similar... basicly, monsters that are so low a level (in relation to you) that they pose no real threat to the group, nor is there any real objective in fighting them, but still attack you none the less. And if your buffing up for a big raid or something, being attacked by a bunch of greenies can be a pain.

It's mean to be used when you just don't wanna be bothered with the fight, basicly.
