EverQuest is full of ridiculous names, which only reinforces what a classic D&D campaign world it really is.

EverQuest is full of ridiculous names, which only reinforces what a classic D&D campaign world it really is.

My favorite is Princess Lenya in High Keep. When you hail her she'd ask

"Aren't you a little short to be a High Keep guard?"

I didn't get it for decades. As a kid I never thought about backwards and anagram names in my AD&D and Greyhawk stuff, they were just odd fantasy names like the Greyhawk Grand Duchy of Geoff (which I pronounced Jee Off not even thinking Jeff) and the County and Duchy of Urnst (not thinking Ernest Gary Gygax, I didn't even know what the E. stood for back then).

I never got the EQ RPG Freeport book but having not played the computer game I was a bit interested to see how it compared to Green Ronin's Freeport which through the OGL showed up in multiple settings I own.

I always liked the named High Elf Noble in Freeport that ask "Which House do you belong to?"

And if you respond "The International House of Pancakes" she replies with something like "You look like you could eat a house of pancakes."
