"Everybody was Kung Fu fighting..."

Yes, I've been listening to this song a lot, lately. ;)

ANYWAY, I was wondering if anyone has ever played in a party in which every PC was a member of the same class. All Fighters, all Clerics, all (Dare I say it?) Monks, etc. So has anyone ever done this before? And if so, how did it work out for you?

We played some really good "grifter" style games in the past where everyone was a rogue. It was riot...very good fun.

In the best one, we were members of the thieves guild that had been put to work as a team doing all these jobs around town. But secretly we were all secret agents from the inquisitors...but we didn't know that the other members of our group were also secret agents.

We had a huge dossier on each other, and nothing on the rest of the thieves guild. One of the leaders of the thieves guild had happened across a file with our ID's and lumped us together to us out of the way, without tipping his hand that he knew who we were...

It was good fun.

I played in a game where everyone was at least in some part a rogue, without preplanning. We all just made rogues, mostly fighter/rogues and full rogues.

Nah, my guys dont do that. They all look around the table, see what other people are going to play, and then choose something different.

Alas,
I have the same problem as ForceUser. For the next campaign, I am trying to get them to come up with a character concept without worrying too much about class first. Of course, this is not working out very well. *sigh*

I ahve always thought a group of thieves would be kind of cool. Not necessarily straight Rogue, but all interested in illicit activities. A group of fighters is easy to imagine. A group composed entirely of Wizards or Sorcerors is a little harder to imagine. Could be fun though. Using Beyond Monks, I could see a group of Monks/Martial Artists. The additional feats would allow you to have a little variance between each character.

I think there is a lot of fun potential for a group of the same/similar classes, but i have not heard of a group playing that way.

I've always wanted to run one of these games. The theives guild, Pirates, Mercenary commando's, etc... Never played or run one though for no particular reason.

I am currently thinking of trying to run a Pirate style adventure again on the back of the success of Pirates of the Carribean :)

Did for a number of games, mostly a mercenary campaign and did do the wizard school deal too. Over all the best was the wizard school, but the whole was good for around seven game sittings, then the players started to drift and look for more.
