Everything is a remake/sequel!

I don't know. Maybe its because those sequels, etc, are all hyped more. It seems like there's a good amount of "original" theater out there to me. But that's just me.

Yeah, my post was definately hyperbolic :) I agree with the hype comment; but mostly it just seems like there're more now than usual, not that they're outnumbering "original" theater :)

There've been two Narnias before, one animated and one a BBC miniseries. You could argue that the new Narnia isn't a remake, but rather made from the same source, and of course that's true, but

Weren't there two separate animated versions of TLTW&TW?

You also have to remember that alot of "original movies" are just remakes of "older movies", with a little twist, They use the same basic idea, and just put their spin on it. You also have to remember that sequals and remakes are cheaper than original scripts, its the same with tv programs, a show is a hit, and everyone makes their version for the next season to cash in on the popularity of the original, a few are hits most are just flops.

These are the ones I could find information on. This does not include the films that are about true events, or based on true events, but not on a previous work, like Munich. I don't know, I'm inclined to think there's just not that much original cinema out there. Oh well, doesn't mean they won't be good movies. ;)

Chicken Little is based on a children's book, IIRC.

Zathura is a "re-take" on Jumanji, but with a space game isntead of a jungle one, right?
