Everything is a remake/sequel!

I wouldn't put Sin city, Batman and other comnic book movies in that category, nor adaptations. I think holly wood would find some refreshments if they dabbled more into the millions upon millions of literary stories and novels out here as opposed to rehashing tv series, sequals and remakes.

However, thye need to step away from the comics, as next summer alone i believe we have 5 fcomic book movies (superman, spiderman, xmen, sincity 2 and something else that slips my mind). There's many a scifi and fantasy novels that would make great books that are very obscure.

If done right. Otherwise, it won't attract many audience like Serenity. Being a sci-fi film is a double whammy. Unless it can attract audience, it least likely to break even which is not what Hollywood industry want.

Also, unless you have a big-name award-winning director with big-name A-list actor(s), the movie may not bring prestigious award; a sign of praise and acceptance from the Hollywood community itself.

The funny thing will be when we all go to it just for a good laugh and it turns out to be a good movie.

...not that it'll happen, of course, but it'd be hilarious.

I probably will go see it at the cheap seats with my brother. I'm sure we will get a good laugh out of it and with any luck, it will be halfway decent.

I don't think "not being done right" was what hurt Serenity. The studio released it at a bad time. they shoudl have released it as a summer movie or held it over for the next summer. The studio took a gamble by hoping for a layover summer audience and then a rushed dvd sell.

If it was opened in the summer, it would have gotten less ticket revenue, what with blockbusters like Star Wars III, Fantastic Four, Batman Begins, Exorcism of Emily Rose, etc.
