I didn't know there had been that many comic book flicks.
77 was a surprise to me too! Here is the top 25 money (just US$) makers.

Eh... I liked some of the films on the list, namely Barbarella, The Shadow, and The Phantom --cab fare for a man in a purple unitard: $10. Man in purple unitard paying with a handful of uncut diamonds: priceless.

And I flat-out loved Spiderman 3. Honestly, it put to screen exactly what I think of and like about comics (that doesn't come out of Alan Moore or Grant Morrison's brain).

I think it's a shame that the Shadow is on here when the far worse, and similarly themed Doc Savage was ignored.

You can add to your 3s Superman III, which is every bit as bad as The Quest for Peace and Supergirl.
No. Quest for Peace is in it's own level of hell. I remember a content the Comic Buyer's Guide did that gave a prize to whoever listed the most outright errors in the movie (things like a cape blowing in the wind...in space).

Clearly there are lots of movies that belong on the worst 20 list more so than some of the ones that were. I liked The Shadow. I feel that the Hulk should have been on there along with Dick Tracy. Also, any Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles after the 1st one sure belong on the list.

It depends on how one defines “bad.”

Is it “so bad is it good?” Is it “just bad?” Is it “so bad third-world nations make their political prisoners watch it?”

I’ve got some fond memories of “Shadow,” though I’ve not seen it in years. Likewise, I watched “Sheena” as I moved through puberty and so it made a favorable impression. I thought Lee’s “Hulk” would have been vastly better with a different editor.

However, “Quest for Peace” and “Batman and Robin” seemed to work hard at being so bad as to give the genre a bad name.

Well, they were each bad enough to put a one-to-two-decade wait before the next one. I guess I'm alone here but I still say that Uma Thurman was strong enough as Posion Ivy to keep Batman & Robin off the Worst 20 list.

For that matter, I found enough entertaining parts in both Swamp Thing and Tank Girl to keep them off that list as well. Superman III should go onto the list, I found it very painful to sit through in the theaters and when it was on televison a few months back I attempted it again but couldn't make it all the way through.

Wait, which Superman III? The lame one with had Superman become a drunk then had him fight his evil clone and then a Cyborg chick while Richard Prior watched; or are you talking about Superman Returns*? Because either one I'd do without.

*Considering that Superman Returns is considered a retcon designed to erase the last two movies.

That's the one - right from the 'slapstick' gags in the opening credits you realize that it isn't going to live up to the quality of the previous two, but the extent to which how far the movie sinks is amazing. That Richard Pryor is the star instead of Christopher Reeve doesn't help matters (and makes me glad that Star Trek IV didn't go that route, as Eddie Murphy was originally planned to be the whale biologist with that character in a much larger role).
