Exalted Champloo - Episode 1 - "Intolerance"

Snow laughs sincerely, having mostly forgotten she was purposefully delaying them, "You flatter me my lord. But I see your second in command is in a bit of a hurry. I look forward to our drink together, good luck with your search."

Once they are good and well out of the inn, she turns to Swallow and Romen, "By the Dragons he looks good... Oh yes Temari and Alamar. I guess we should go find them?"

Assuming the Circle takes the lucky break and makes a move for it…

The Circle convenes at the entrance to Low Road in Beggar’s March. It is dark and dingy, and a slight dampness hangs in the air mixed with the sharp foulness of perhaps sewage and refuse. But the pungent odor of death is what makes the setting even more foreboding and the darkness makes it difficult to see for the Lawgivers and their mercenaries.

The Low Road though is at least devoid of Imperial presence…

He looked up as the others arrived, "Well ... I see you arrived without incident."

He coughed, "Ah, the smell of ruins. You may find it revolting, but to these old explorer's bones, it's like fresh air. The city ... blegh."

He snorts at that, as if he finds the air out in the city to be unpleasant in comparison, definitely a strange man.

"So ... any pursuit, or are we free to move on, and hopefully at the very worst, have a chat or two with the dead as we escape the city?"

He smirks at that, but the way he grips his Lance says he knows it may be dangerous.

OOC: Guess you didnt see the question earlier about asking for any specific information he may know about the dead that may be helpful. Guess I forgot to specify in OOC I was asking for a roll(if needed).

Temari smirks when the other's arrive at the Low Road, "I was begging to wonder if I needed to go and fetch you." the girl comments without opening her eyes or standing up. The huntresss yawns languidly and stands, stetchinf her fingers up to the ceiling and then droping them to her side. "Did anyone think to bring torches or lantern's or shall we improvise?" she asks, looking to those who the circle's intellects.

"Don't worry old man, I'll protect you and those old explorer's bones of yours, well at least until you tell us if all that boasting with Sand Rat was true." she replies dryly to Alamar's reassuring grip on his lance.

He chuckled at her comment, "Ten years, I've survived ten years with this." He taps his forehead in emphasis, "I'm no Dynast warrior, far from it, but I can at the very least hold my own in a fight, provided I'm not facing off against a fighter with Sand Rat's apparent skill. My bones may be old, but I've got many decades ahead of me before I even plan to slow down. So you neednt worry about that at least. I've survived, and I plan to continue to survive."

He frowns, but its a playful one. He fetches a few torches out of his rucksack, "We can scrounge up some more on the way if needed. So long as there is lost knowledge out there, I'll do what I must to survive. Rest assured of that fact, Temari."

"Let's get this thing going, so I can go have tea with that adorable captain. I think you'd have liked him Temari, right Swallow?" Snow speaks as she gracefully drops down into the sewer, immediately wrinkling her nose, "Ugh, I hate sewers... Sand Rat... This city really has turned to suit my tastes after all this time... well aside from the sewers then. They stink the same as everywhere..."

"Ten years?" she taps Alamar's forehead, "And you haven't learned this simplest of tricks?" she asks teasingly, as the sign of the dawn lights up on her own forehead, "The Sun walks with us wherever we go."

ooc: spending 1 mote of peripheral essence to light caste mark

He chuckled, "One of the first tricks I learned, but I've learned to be rather judicious in the usage of the power granted to us. After all ... I'd rather not become publicly known as Anathema and such displays are grand ways of doing just that. It's become a habit by now."

He grins sheepishly as he put the torches away, "Shall we go then?"

The chamber the Circle stands in becomes lit by Dancing Snow’s power, the glow shimmering off fetid water, and hewn stone. A rat skitters out of sight down the only path available the path behind consists of collapsed earth and construction. A corpse like hand reaches out from the rubble as if trying to find freedom… it lies still on the wet stone.

The smell of death though still lingers…

Two Stone

[sblock]The undead are usually mindless creatures, but those that have a will are usually restless ghosts and spirits more so then animated bodies. The dead invariably stay close to Shadowlands… which means if the Low Road is infested with the undead it either runs near or through a Shadowland… and it could be possible to become stuck in the Underworld forever. Plus essence energies are different in Shadowlands and the Underworld… and it will be difficult to regain essence through the normal means.[/sblock]

He sighs as he looks around, "Now I remember exactly why I wanted torches. Conserve your energies, we're near a Shadowland, as if that isnt rather obvious. The flow of energy here is ... mercurial at best. Essence is .... not well come in this place, and the ability to recover from the loss of it ... " he scowls, "is not something that I'd rely upon. So .. let's move fast, and try not to step on any bones, or anything that looks strange, lest we draw the attention of the mindless ones."

"That wasn't the boasting I was speaking of, though I don't doubt you are at least fair with that lance as well..." Temari flirts, as she slides her bow over her shoulder, the tunnel would be too restrained for her to make full use of it, and her short sword would simply work better for it. Rubbing her legs down for a moment so that they didn't cramp up, Temari loosened the blade in its sheathe, she wasn't much of a match for Snow or the other Dynast, but she judged herself to be more then competent with it.

"Are we ready to procede?"
