One of the biggest things that I and many people I talked to seemed to notice at Origins this year was a lack of excitement among the gamers. I'd see them go to booths, look through books, talk to the Industry people, but there was rarely any emotion in them.

So, as a gamer do you feel excited for the new books and the latest releases?

the last thing i can remember being "excited" about was the release of 3e. seriously. splats and setting books don't do anything for me (well, they quite often annoy me), and i'd rate 3.5 as merely being interesting.

wow. i feel like such a curmudgeon...

There's no d20 stuff at my FLGS, so my potential excitement is limited to WotC stuff.

Was last excited in living memory about the FRCS and RttToEE. FRCS exceeded my expectations and RttToEE was disappointing. MM2 and MoF were anticipated because they patched holes in the game system for me (MM not enough/too poor quality monsters and PHB somewhat generic and limited selection of spells).

Must be getting old too...

I only get excited about things that I've already bought, really like, and anticipate using.

Option two for me (most of the time). There's nearly always something on the horizon for me to get stoked about -- right now there's Mindshadows, Monsters of the Mind, 3.5e core books, AU, Warlords CS... :D

I've pretty much always been like this, and I like it.

You have no idea of the contrast between the arrival of 3E and nowadays. I was shaking with exitement as I drove to my FLGS to get the brand spankin' new PHB 3 years ago. Now I just really don't care...

I've been waiting for GURPS Vorcosigan for quite a while. Other than that, not many books that I'm really looking forward to.

After seeing the quality of The Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting I snatch up every 3rd edtion Realms supplement. can't wait for The Underdark!

Yeah, I was really excited about the release of 3ed. Now if I see a spycraft or D&D book that looks good, I might get it
