Exp. leaches?

Since B is metagaming, it is no option, anyways. ;)

Either it happens or not, not seeking out someone to help just because it will reduce XPs is just silly. Never had a problem there.

Yes. But is it silly on the part of the players. Or is it silly on the part of the DM lessen rewards because the PC did not avoid having allies?
Both would be silly.

And for my 2 copper pieces, the PCs should get extra XP if they get in a fight appropriate for their level with the two Drd3s present, since keeping them alive will be (a) very difficult and (b) a big tactical disadvantage.

Questions like these are why I just assign XP as I see fit and ignore issues of CR and level for XP purposes.

Argh yeah. Players who act strangely because of XPs deserve to get shot.

No kidding. Once, we came upon a fire elemental and our cleric had a magic circle on, so we decided that he'd block the doorway while the rest of the party plinked at it with arrows.

The DM said "okay, but you are not in any danger, so you will not get any XP for this combat". So the rest of the party decided to charge the damn thing. :\

"For the XP !!!" :(

Edit : Unfortuntely, they didn't die. :D

I don't see the problem. Stupid rulings demand stupid responses.

If DM wanted us to fight a Fire Elemental so very badly, I would be game.

We play this game so that everyone has a chance to have fun, after all.

Hi!

Cannot follow....

Why should the ruling of the DM be stupid, hong?

If you slaughter a pig you are in no real danger, are you?

So, why should you get any XP for doing something that does not derserve it?

Kind regards

Heh. We recently ran into a flesh golem. In our case, the heavily-armoured-and-nigh-unhittable cleric ran up to it, and the archer hung back in the doorway. The golem, naturally, attacked the nearest opponent, the cleric... and missed, and missed, and missed, while the archer steadily whittled it down.

Winning strategy!

... until the halfling sorcerer/rogue got bored, and scooted past the archer into the room to find a line of effect, and provoked an AoO, and got knocked unconscious... and so the dwarven ranger (with the low AC) tried to save her, and started taking severe damage as well...

We won, but we could have done it at the cost of a couple of hits on the cleric, instead of nearly losing two PCs, if the halfling hadn't gotten impatient...
