Exp. to Ravenloft Character help: Card-dealing gypsy mage, or dagger fighter

We'll be finishing up Red Hand of Doom soon, and progressing to Expedition to Castle Ravenloft. Two character ideas come to mind, inspired by a pair of prestige classes I wrote for the EN World Player's Journal three years ago.

1. A gypsy mage who uses cards in spellcasting. I'm thinking perhaps playing a rogue/sorcerer, a bard, or a spellthief, using some of the fun stuff like Luck feats and skill tricks in Complete Scoundrel. I'm flexible on specifics. I might even go for warlock, just so I can shoot eldritch blasts that look like tarot cards.

2. A dagger-wielding bodyguard for the aforementioned gypsy mage. The classic dual-dagger sleight of hand-ing, sneak-attack-out-the-wazoo rogue. Or perhaps rogue/scout/spellthief/prestige class to maximize sneak attack (but screw my base attack bonus).

Any suggestions?

For the Gypsy Mage, if you went the Bard route I'd look at the Lyric Thaumaturge from Complete Mage. It would add some additional powers to your spell casting and lets you grab some sorcerer/wizard spells.

Edit: And if you want to go rogue/sorcerer how's Unseen Seer, also from Complete Mage, sound? It's basically Arcane Trickster with more focus on skills and spells than sneak attack, and of course somewhat divination based.

Going with twin daggers you are going to need some form of Sneak attack or something as you suggest. I'd try to stay away from scout if you are going to dual wield though. Could you see him being a swashbuckler? Swashbuckler / Rogue / Invisible Blade could be fun, though it is a little rough on feats.
