Expanding Monks Weapons

Is there a feat that allows a monk to use his flurry of blows with a different weapon? I want to use a light weapon as part of my flurry, but it is not in the monks original list. It is a light piercing, like a rapier, I can't quite remember the name of it in my DM's game.

Is there such a feat?

I need to know fast.

Thanks,

Serpent Spear in Eberron allows longspear and I think there's another one that allows longsword and a few others. You could probably just write your own:

Weapon Monk [General]
Prerequisites: proficency in chosen weapon, weapon focus in chosen weapon
Benefit: Chosen weapon is treated as a monk weapon
Special: You may take this feat multiple times, each time apply it to a new weapon.

In the Dragon Compendium there is a feat called Unorthodox Flurry. That allows you to designate a light weapon to use with your flurry of blows.

There are a few feats in Eberron that expand the Monk's weapon list, as does the aforementioned Unorthodox Flurry from the DCv1. The DCv1 also includes Pole Fighter, which lets you use polearms with FoB. Almost all of them- WotC & DCv1- follow the same Feat structure. Check out the section under "Weapon Focus."

Greater Weap Focus
Double Steel Strike (Eberron p60)
Whirling Steel Strike (Eberron p60)
Serpent Strike (Eberron p60)
Pole Master (SoS)
Pole Fighter (DCv1)
Unorthodox Flurry (DCv1)

In addition, there are several Base Monk variants- most notably, the OA version of the class- that expand the class' weapon list. The Sohei also has a variant of FoB that is melded with Rage- called Ki Frenzy- which is usable with any weapon the PC can use.

In the PrCls, the Shou Disciple (FR: Unapproachable East) is a 5 level PrCl that lets you use any and all weapons with FoB.

Awesome! Thanks for the help!

I don't recall, actually. In fact, I don't recall if the issue is addressed in the class at all.

However, given that the class is NOT Monk-specific- indeed, all you need to do is have the right Feat prereqs- and that the Sohei's version of FoB (namely the FoB/Rage fusion, Ki Frenzy), I'd have to say that its usable in armor.

I'll check later on tonight.

I just checked: A Shou Disciple is proficient with Lt Armors and no shields, and expressly gets to use its FoB and other martial arts skills when wearing Light armor, and loses it with heavier armors or shields.

And Monk & Shoul Disciple levels stack for most purposes.

There is, however, no language what happens when a Monk with levels in Shou Disciple uses Light Armor- as in, does he get to use all of his levels of FoB in armor, or only his Shou Disciple ones?

I, for one, opt for the former- I see the Shou Disciple's Lt Armor proficiency as a class feature that could just as easily be named "Armored Monk."
