I plan on running this adventure and a Ravenloft campaign if, AND ONLY IF, this is a precursor to bringing more Ravenloft products to 3rd Edition...in other words, a return of the campaign setting.

Apologies, but I really hope you're disappointed. The Ravenloft setting took away the possibility of doing horror adventures in normal D&D. Horror adventures in regular D&D, I support.

Does anyone know the page count of this adventure and what level characters it is aimed at?

Yes. The designers.

Oh, you wanted to *know* the page count. ;)

Sorry about that: 224 pages. Hardcover. Levels 6-10.

The master of Ravenloft is having guests for dinner...
and you are invited.

A dark shape emerges from the shadow of Castle Ravenloft. A flash of lightning reveals the sneering countenance of Count Strahd von Zarovich. His eyes burn with eternal hunger and contempt for life. From a narrow balcony, he peers out into the drizzling twilight at the few sad lights of the village below and mutters a single name:

“Ireena . . .”

Expedition to Castle Ravenloft is a DUNGEONS & DRAGONS deluxe adventure that updates the original 1st Edition Ravenloft module, retaining the Gothic flavor and familiar elements while expanding and reimagining some of the locations to create a deeper, richer adventure experience.

This campaign arc adventure is designed for characters of levels 6–10 and features a new, easy-to-use combat encounter format. This book also presents new magic items, feats, and prestige classes for player characters.

How did Ravenloft as a setting take away the possibility of doing horror adventures in "normal" D&D? Did the Ravenloft police come to your door if you planned a horror themed adventure for your group?

It certainly redirected the resources down a singular path until Heroes of Horror came along.

That said, I always found Ravenloft campaign material, for every edition, to be eminently lootable for regular games.

And can someone explain why we need a PDF of a table of contents instead of just the text pasted into an HTML page? What up with that, WotC?

"Hi, we're Wizards of the Coast. We're lazy." That's what's up.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this. I'll run it as a one-shot for the pre-Halloween weekend. My current group is 2nd level--too low to run through Expedition as-is. We'll use pre-gen characters, then the "normal" group will see the Ravenloft 1-shot group as a set of NPCs later on. That'll be cool.

My regular Greyhawk capaign already has hints and suggestions of a "bleed through" where bits of Ravenloft are seeping into the Flaeness due to evil bad guy plots, so this should be fun.

Otherwise I'm not gonna bother getting it until I can get it used or something way down the line if I ever feel like running the adventure.

I've had a lot of fune with Arthaus' 3E Ravenloft campaign. I liked it a LOT better than the 2E version.

As for this product, I'm already dissappointed it is for 6-10th level. Guess that was a marketing decision. I would be happier with a 14th to dead level. Scaling it should be easy enough though.

Like I've said before, the biggest thing I want them to do is redo the maps in the same format as I-6. Plus I would like to see fantastic drawings of an aerial perspective of the castle, at about a 45 degree angle at about a 100 foot height. From at least 3 directions.

Doubt that will happen, but I can dream for a little while yet.
