D&D 5E Expedition to the Demonweb Pits as a sequel to Out of the Abyss?

Personally, I'd be more inclined to use the original AD&D module, Q1, and convert that to 5e, I suspect it would be no more difficult and it's kind of more linear in terms of "get Lolth".

Really? I have to say, I played it back in the day, and it seemed really unsatisfying. Linear hallways with 'odd encounters with rooms full of monsters' that had no real theme or drow-like or spider-like theme to them. The weirdness of the hallway was pretty cool, but that didn't last long. And the end happening in a spaceship...really weird.

I'd actually take Q1 and re-theme it as some sort of tesseract-like thing, with a quirky trickster-god behind it all. Make the whole thing more mechanical. Maybe evil gnomes? I dunno. But it didn't quite sit right with me.

Yeah, Ive been debating how to follow up with Out of the Abyss, and just thought that going into the Abyss and defeating Lolth may be good to sequel into.

I read Expedition to the Demonweb Pits, and its not bad, mainly featuring Grazzt and his son, Rule-of-Three and their plot against Lolth. I'm hoping that my players have enough contempt for Lolth after the events of Out of the Abyss, that they would ally with Grazzt and his son to defeat her...of course with all the little politics and drama that come along with making a deal with a demon such as Grazzt as outlined in Expedition.

So far, i think im going to go wth it.
