Expert Tactician

Expert tactician is especially nasty when your rogue beats everyone on initiative, he can move in and get two sneak attacks, other than that it doesn't come up very often.

Quicker than the Eye! Quicker than the Eye!

Of course, a straight Rogue taking Expert Tactician can now Bluff and attack in the same round. Used to be, a rogue gave up 1/2 of his attacks by bluffing (a standard action), because he could only attack every other round. Not so with E.T. He uses his regular standard action to Bluff (per the faint-in-combat rules), then gets the partial attack to make a sneak attack at his now Dex bonus-less opponent.

Conclusion: 1 sneak attack every round, flanking and surprise no longer necessary.

...

Nice. :D

Ya, but he still has to succeed at the bluff. I know his Bluff will be high, but if he fails he just stand there with no attack action left.

I'm afraid it doesn't work quite that way.

Bluffing someone doesn't cause them to lose their dex bonus. It makes them unable to use it against your next attack (which will allow you to make a sneak attack).

Expert Tactician doesn't grant you an extra attack until they have lost their Dex bonus, so it won't trigger until after you have used your normal attack after bluffing them. It will then grant an additional attack (which won't be a sneak attack, because they only lost their dex bonus against the previous attack).

Quicker than the Eye will allow you to Bluff/Feint and then attack in the same round, but Expert Tactician won't. (Although if you are hasted and have both Expert Tactician and Quicker than the eye, you can Feint and Sneak Attack twice in the same round.

I had pondered creating a Fighter/Thief that uses feats like that to the utmost; the sneak Attack Master. Imagine.

Human Fighter/Thief. First level: Fighter. 3 feats.

Combat Reflexes, Quick Draw, Flick of the Wrist. Next level, Rogue. He gets nothing. Next level, fighter, Expert Tactician (It's considered a fighter's feat due to the fact it's in S&F).

Neither the version in S&F nor the errated version in Song & Silence indicate that this feat can be added to the Fighter list of Bonus Feats.

The Errata for Sword and Fist added several of the feats (including Expert Tactician) to the fighter Bonus Feat list.

Agreed - but what about the new, even more errata'd version in S&S? ;)
