Exploring the Hase-Suna Complex (Manzanita judging) [Concluded]

OOC: I still havent found how much coin Kol was supposed to have. Or I prolly would have bought some food as well. No lizard for him thanks! ;)
Does anyone know or will the current sheet amount "have to do"

The treasure recovered from the last bunch of lizardmen you fought in the big battle has been erased in the crash, and I don't have a record, but as I recall the total haul was about 65 GP plus the shield. So after spending 20 GP on the cure spells, and dividing by 6, everyone got an extra 7.5 GP left over from that foray.

I'll let you spend a little retroactively, since I didn't realize you had been waiting for that.

Lokin considers the choices before him.

"I say we press on and get to the ruins tonight. We've been away too long and I'd like to dig in as soon as possible. If not that, I say we go back to the inn and spend a pleasant night before we go back in first thing in the morning."

The fighter eyes the group, trying to gauge their responses.

It is a nice night, I am all for pressing on. We can try and find the same place we semi-fortified on our way out last time.

Shouldn't be too hard with Kurg, Kol and I trying together. We broke a lot of brush carrying you out on the table.

Although, the lizards might have scouted it out or even trapped it in hopes we'd return but we have Payne for that.

I am willing to go with the consensus on this.

Zurd searches in his pack for something and pulls out some leftover food from the Inn.

He eyes it thoughtfully and gives the majority to Kurg who's tail wags appreciatively.

"Did the Inn have good food?" Kyle asks hopefully, desire dripping through every word "You know it has been quite a journey and I'm sure that we've all worked up an appetite. The lizards can wait a day no? They're not going anywhere are they?"

[sblock=ooc]Kyle's got food as well, spices, sauces, cheeses, dried fruits and meats - he's a 7/11 ;) The below is from post 93 above

No worries Kol, Kyle has you covered for food. He'll make anything edible :D I'vetaken 55gp off Kyle's sheet for travelling costs.

Lokin looks at Kyle.

"The food was alright. Nothing like the feasts you make, but most innkeepers don't dedicate their lives and souls to foodcraft. As for waiting another night, I'm eager to get back to the work at hand. Then again, it does make sense to wait another night. That way, if we need to flee, we can run during the day. If we go in at dusk, a quick departure means retreating in the dark. Hmmm...maybe we should head for the inn."

[sblock=OOC]As a player, I want to get back to the dungeon, but maybe it makes more sense to get a fresh start in the morning from Lokin's point of view.[/sblock]

Payne agrees to pressing on. Whatever it took to get them closer to collecting her treasure.. er.. their treasure. Well, that's what she'd tell them anyhow. Running her tongue over her teeth, glancing between the others as they chit-chatted.

OOC: Not exactly a clear decision... but I want to nudge this along, so for lack of a clearer consensus from the group I'm going to help stack the deck toward a decision, any decision.

Kongu adds her voice to Payne's and Zurd's and Kol's. "I don't think a speedy retreat is going to be a problem. We have a healer now, so if worst comes to worst, we should be able to stand it better than we did last time. We might as well go straight to the keep."

Lokin sounded ambivalent, and I'm guessing that if D20Dazza intended Kyle to argue more strenuously for a night at the inn, he would have posted more than once on the question. So let's say that, after a little more discussion, Lokin and Kyle are either persuaded to go along, or at least decide to yield to the others.

The group continues through the woods, along the same path as before. When you get to where you camped when carrying Lokin out, Kongu recounts the events for Kyle's benefit. "Not a bad place to camp... we fortified it, in case we had any unwelcome visitors. It turned out our only problem was the rain. None of us brought a tent, and our hard work did nothing to keep us dry."

Finally, you get to the entrance to the stronghold, and are ready to descend. What is your marching order? Since you've been in some 5' wide corridors and some 10' wide, let's establish a formation for each. Also, unless I am told otherwise, I will assume that Payne always does a single search check when walking through new areas, and that you will move at the speed of her searching; she will take 20 checking out doors for traps.

As they approach the complex Zurd makes a general statement to the group.

If one of them is wearing my dog for a trophy its mine!

Likewise, her body is precious to me if we can recover her I'd appreciate the support.

[sblock=marching suggestion]

Suggested Marching Order is....

10'

Lokin/Kol
Zurd/Kyle
Kurg/Payne
Kongu

5'

Lokin
Kol
Kyle
Zurd
Kurg
Payne
Kongu

Only question I have is that if Payne is doing a sweep, should she be in front or is it considered that she makes that sweep then we all get back into order then move on. I think the latter makes good sense, however, there has to be some chance that Payne might be busted alone somewhere up ahead at some point.

Also, on why Zurd is in the 2nd row is because he can fight though the 1st rank with zero chance of hitting them. There was some mention of a chance of that last time but there is a change to the FAQ that says only ranged weapons have a chance of hitting a friendly if they are in the path not a melee weapon.

Lokin considers Zurd's marching order.

"Not bad. The back of a column can get as much harassment as the front and often without the benefit of being ready for it, though. We got surrounded last time. If we move cautiously and carefully, we should be able to keep the enemy on the correct side of us. I agree your marching order as best that I can see. Also, there is the question of torchbearer again."

Lokin draws his bastard sword and takes a few practice swings, getting used to his old blade in conjunction with his new shield.
