Exploring the Hase-Suna Complex (Manzanita judging) [Concluded]

"I am fine with being up front." Kol remarks to Zurd's order of march suggestion. "We have some light yes? I would've bought one of those everburning torches if I had the funds, but jerky and hardtack seemed more pressing."

OOC: I make sure Kol is psionically focused before entering.

Lokin, I agree, I didn't really think about a rear attack. We can always place Kyle in the rear. He can hold for a bit while the fighters move to the right places. However, that leaves the healer out of range of healing the fighters right away if things go bad so we might be stuck with the order I suggested.

I think the only reason we got surrounded last time was poor judgment and chasing the lizards who ran off. Lets not go there again ey?

We can try it and see what happens.

Until further notice, I will assume the marching orders in DerHauptman's post above when you are moving through old areas. For new areas, I'll have Payne up front, and (for 10' wide corridors) Kongu up next to Kurg.

If you then click "cycle grid" you'll get a grid with each square representing 10'.

Kongu lights one of her torches. She'll hold it unless someone farther forward takes it from her. You descend into the entry hall. Where do you go?

Zurd whispers to Kyle, this whole carrying a light source is killing me. Humans - geesh.

It's like saying "diner, over here this way".

Zurd searches his mind to see of the gifts of his inheritance include the light making spell. Thinking, humm, guess the ancestors knew I didn't need a light source... Then thinks to himself...well, Lights on you guys.

[sblock=movement] We move forward to the first intersection stopping for the magic mouth to do it's thing and Payne to check again for any traps, then and Kyle and I look down into what were the alcoves to the maximum of our darkvision. [/sblock]

"I hear you friend Zurd" Kyle says with a grin as he awaits the all clear to move further into the complex "I feel like I'm on fire" the dwarf admits while he waits "My blood is pumping through my veins at an amazing pace, my nerves are singing and my belly feels all fluttery" he pulls the skillet from where it's strapped to his side and peers anxiously down the corridor.

Lokin moves up near the intersection, behind Payne. He carries the torch in his right hand and the shield in his left.

"Listen. I can't fight and hold this torch. You can't sneak and hold this torch. But we both need to see. So, I have a plan. When you're advancing in stealth, I'll bear the torch. When we're advancing in combat formation, you hold it."

He turns to the rest.

"Unless anyone else is willing to?"

Well, I gotta have one hand free to cast and one to hold my weapon, otherwise I can do one or the other not both. Don't think that passes the common sense test.

Additionally, since I can also fight in the front line from the second row with my reach weapon we'd have to be giving up one extra attack on the primary targets for me to carry that blazing target there.

I'll be a team player but does it make sense to anyone to give up a free attack on the front line or a spell I can cast to facilitate the vision of the lesser races?

Your call ladies, I'll support whatever we agree on.

Lokin grins.

"Lesser races, eh? Not the wording I would use but the idea is correct. I wouldn't expect someone who can see in the dark to sacrifice their effectiveness for those of us who cannot. It's just that I carry an enchanted shield. It would be a shame to not be able to use because of the torch. Likewise, a swordsman with a shield but no sword is equally unfortunate. But if that is the only way for me to be any help, then so be it. If anyone has a better solution, by all means let me know."

The long entrance corridor is just as you (other than Kyle, of course) remembered it. There is an unpleasant smell that suggests rotting flesh. After the first door it's about 10' to the first pair of alcoves on the left and right, then 40-50' to the next pair, and a further 30' to the last pair. As before, at the last of the alcoves, a disembodied mouth appears on the left and shouts, "Intruders! Beware! Cursed are those that invade the home of Suna and Hase!" After that, it's two steps up to the landings where you saw the corpses last time. There are no corpses now.

The alcoves are only about 5' wide and 5' deep.

Kol listened to the confusion about torchlight and who is carrying what. "Kongu said she would carry it." he said with a shrug.

OOC: Let the NPC carry it..She can hang back, provide light, Bardic Music, and Aid Another Checks for crissakes! :) Know your role NPC!
