Extensive Half-Orc Conversion

Gospog

First Post
My wife recently ran a Scarred Lands game (which was excellent). I wanted a unique miniature for the campaign, so I converted one up.

I took pictures at each stage, thinking it may be interesting to you all.

Tharag is a half-orc Barbarian/Druid. He carries around a giant tree trunk to hit people with, and eats "magic mushrooms" to get his Druid spells.

Very nice.

I've been doing a bit of converting myself lately, using more and more sculpting to get what I want. Most of it has been hacking pieces of one minis to use on another, and your article makes me want to do a bit more sculpting and less 'hacking'. :)

I am glad I inspired you. And humbled. But enough humility!

Thanks for all of the feedback!

Hehe! Thanks. I didn't realize that I'd given a green guy purple pants till you pointed it out. Cool! :)

Pogre, sorry I almost overlooked your question in my haste. I started and finished in two weekends. I didn't work the entire weekend either time, of course. I would say I put about 2-3 hours a day into it. Maybe a little less.

A lot of that was drying time, which comes in 20-minute increments.

Using a pre-made body as the basis probably saved me two days in sculpting time, had I decided to build up from a wire frame.

Again, thanks for all of the feedback.

I like it! :)

One thought re: the pictures. How about a closer shot of the leaf pattern you did over his old chainmail loincloth?
