Eye on Darksun finally up

Still says it's in Dungeon 186 at the top of the page though... funny ...also the ToC for 187 says "the Heartwood Spear is being updated for the 4th Edition version of the campaign setting." and the article details Eldaarich with no mention of the Heartwood Spear. I wonder if we were supposed to see that one this month...

Yeah, I noticed that it didn't quite "add up" properly. 186 still has a "greyed out" Darksun article, and this one says 186 at the top, but the ToC from 187 points to this article. What a frelling mess.

Typos galore, and editorial mistakes. Shameful. It seems very chaotic; they must be running around like chickens with their heads lopped off over at WotC HQ. Seems like either lack of manpower for the workload, or so many projects on the go that they can't keep up. Could be the chaos from switching gears mid-stream like they seem to have. That would explain a few things, at any rate.

Either that or they don't give a crap.

It would be funny if I wasn't paying for it. D4H I think you may be the smart one ;)

I do love the compendium though and make extensive use of it as I DM a lot of PbP games and it's nice to have all the rules at my fingertips as I'm updating while online anyway.

I get the feeling that however the article posting/categorizing is done is somewhat automated... IE the person posting the article puts it into a folder or something and it gets named/posted "properly..."

The issue then would be when an article is late, and another one is scheduled for the same category...

I'm guessing the numbering will be corrected relatively soon.

I liked the article. Thought it did a good job of describing the city and its immediate surroundings and gave plenty of fodder for a campaign. It would even be relatively trivial to fit it into a non-Dark Sun campaign. That being said, some sort of map, either of the city itself or of the region would have been nice. To be fair though I don't have the Dark Sun books so maybe the region described is mentioned there and noted on a map in the book.

This is precisely why I was interested in 4e Darksun in the first place; I have a huge desert continent that I needed to populate for a campaign idea I had, and no desire to develop such an area from scratch. I was hoping to just plunk DS down there and call it "done."

This has been my biggest complaint with DS so far - not enough mapping and detail. Fortunately, the internet remembers such things from previous DS boxes. ;)
