Fair Warning- Legend of Zorro

Wow, I had little inclination to see that movie before I saw this thread. Now, I have absolutely no desire to see it. So although I would have liked to say thanks for saving me more money, all I can say is thanks for allowing me to not have to wonder very occasionally if I missed out on a good movie. :)

I'd forgotten about the daughter bit.....I'll have to go re-watch on DVD. All these posts make me less inclined to spend money seeing it in the theatre. That would be contributing money to the success of the film, which would be telling them it's "ok" to make films like this.

Actually it is a son in the first movie, they just have him dressed a bit funny (not to mention Dad waving flowers and him and all).

From the ads I saw....

It looked like Spy Kids with swashbucklers (the soap plot sort of seals that deal).

Really, like little baby Zorro & Momma Zorro & Daddy Zorro go take out the bad guys.

Isn't this kinda what they did with the Mummy movies?

Funny, I was thinking that this was awfully like how the Mummy 2 was much worse than the original. This, however, was far worse than Mummy 2.

Yeah, but most sequals are much worse than the first one, which is kind of a pity really. I always hear about a sequal and am like so pumped up about it, but then too often I am greatly disappointed. I thought that about the Mummy, apparently I would think that about Zoro, and there are plenty of other movies I feel similarly. I just hope they don't screw up Pirates of the Carribbean 2. :]

When the reviews came back bad and it had a play time of over 2 hours, I knew I would never see this. For me, a movie has to be very compelling to entertain me for 2+ hours.

For some unknown reason I actually like The Mummy Returns better than The Mummy...

It had all the elements I shouldn't have liked....annoying kid, et al but something about it..

Not sure it would work with Zorro though.

Sounds like a good film, right up my alley. Of course, I also enjoyed The Mummy Returns equally as well as the Mummy, I liked the D&D film (Second one is still on my DVR, haven't found time for about 50 hours worth of stuff on it), and I prefer Adam West as Batman, so YMMV.

I saw the movie on Tuesday. Not quite as good as The Mask of Zorro, but not quite as bad as some of the more negative reviews claimed it is.

Overall it was decent, though two parts of the plot's backdrop kinda bugged me (which I'm sure were already mentioned in this thread, but I'll mention them again anyway ;) ):

  • 1) The movie took place in 1850, just before California attained U.S. statehood... yet the bad guys kept talking about helping the Confederacy, which would only be formed a decade later.

  • 2) The two Pinkerton agents claimed that they were agents of the U.S. Government. In actual fact, Pinkerton has always been a private security agency (first formed in Chicago in 1850) which started working with the U.S. Government in 1861... again, a decade after the movie took place.

Still, it was an enjoyable enough movie.

I thought the first one was so terrible that it almost made me puke with such a gutwrenching velocity I thought my insides were going to liquify.

Just thought you might be interested...I don't know.
