Faith the Vampire Slayer Tv show?

Probably the most disappointing thing for me with Buffy was never seeing more of 'young Giles playing with the darkside'. I'd love a show or miniseries or whatever about late 70s Britain, with nasty punk black magic Giles finding his way out of the gutter.

Personally I'm not particularly excited about seeing Faith or the actress that portrayed Faith in anything anytime soon. Out with the old, in with the new!
I'd like to see Eliza Dushku in as little as possible.

How about a show MIXING the two? ASH returns as Giles, with Xander (or even better, Spike) being second watcher, and a rotating cast of slayer-girls every week, and they cast a "young giles", with occasional flashbacks to Giles in the 1970's punker movement involving himself in events that have direct relevance to the current-day? It'd be a great way to throw Spike in as well, and mute the idea that vampires don't age, despite the fact that James Marsters is almost ten years older than when he first took the role. :)

My loony idea for a new series was a bit of a take-off on the series finale. Someone from the Buffy cast (with a sidekick or two) is the lead, as a roving agent of Giles' Watcher's Council, trying to help new Slayers deal with the kind of things Slayers deal with. I thought it could work with just about any of the survivng Buffy good-guys as the lead.

In the general sense, I think you're right here. The good stories to be told here are not about Buffy or Faith. They're about all the new Slayers that were brought forth in the end of the last season of Buffy.

I personally think a "short story" or anthology format would work well, though such things are unproven for modern TV audiences.

I suspect that, at least for a little while, Joss is so over the television thing. He seems to be enjoying movies these days, and if Serenity is the success that we all hope and pray it is, he may cement his Hollywood credentials.

Someone would have to throw a lot of money at him BUT I do think that if Serenity does well (and from the trailer I saw at Hitchhiker's Guide is any indication it will) you could see Joss doing movies/DVD market bypassing TV, the networks and the issues he has had in the past. ;)

On the subject of Buffy, today I caught the Christmas episode from Season Three for the first time. What a great episode.

Strange you should say that. That is one of my least favorite eps ever. Angel at his whiney best and the whole Buffy/Angel 3rd Season Relationship of DOOM at it's worst. Plus, the First is a stupid villain. It was in that ep. and was one of the big reasons for the suckage of season 7. All the other Buffy villains were remarkable for their motivations, and quirky personalities. The first was lacking that, and it changed the season villain from a character to a device.

Not that I've got a strong opinion or anything. :)

And no, I'm not interested in seeing Joss go back to the Buffyverse. It was wonderful, but it would feel like retread to go back.

I think what would be awesome is if they did a series just on Sweet the Demon, with Giles as the anti-Sweet. Singing, dancing....what's not to love?

I thought Buffy is the old, and Faith is the new.

It's moot anyway. Buffy gave her powers to all the chosen ones, so there's an army of slayers.

P.S. I'd rather see Eliza than the blonde old crone, SMG.
