Falling Monk

If a 4th level Monk falls 30' and rolls a sucessful Tumble check will they take any damage?

4th level Monk 20' safe fall - 10' successful Tumble check = 0'?

Silly question, but it came up.

I'd allow the monk to make the tumble check to take no damage.

I wasn't sure if the Safe Fall ability would work at all if you fell from farther than your max.

Falling 30' the ability doesn't kick in, so you'd only negate 10' of it from the tumbling?

There is no max falling distance beyond which Slow Fall doesn't kick in. The distance stated in the book is the amount of _falling damage_ that gets negated by use of the ability. So a 4th level monk could fall 100 ft, and take damage as if they had only fallen 80 ft (8d6 points).
