favorite D&D character concept

I usually DM, so its a tough queston to answer. As a DM I get to make boatloads (sometimes literally) of NPCs and get to "play" a wide variety of classes / etc. (In quotes here because I'm not the DM that plays a PC or plays a helpful NPC that is tagging along with the party everywhere. I firmly believe in NOT doing that....)

Anyway, my favorite type of character in those instances are completely and utterly devious spellcasters.

As such, I'd say my favorite type of character to play as a player is a completely and utterly devious spellcaster. The last one I enjoyed playing was a lawyer / wizard. He was caught using Charm Person during legal proceedings and disbarred (ok so he wasn't just a Wizard, he was a Wizard / Lawyer / Rogue - some metamagic, bluff, and sleight of hand goes a long way in a court room.) He once drew up a contract for a duel with a local military commander which he had surprisingly ticked off. The brave commander "lost" when, as specified in the contract, time for the duel ran out (he figured he would kill us quickly so he glossed the extremely long tiem frame given to kill my character) and I clambered down from the "Rope Trick" to show him said fine print.

I think at that point I was once again banished to DM-Land from whence I happily harrassed players until only recently.
