Favorite Disney animated movie?

I loved The Incredibles too, but that's more a Pixar flick than a Disney one, ain't it?
As with all the Pixar feature films, it was a Disney movie. Pixar never released a movie without Disney. I believe the forthcoming Ratatouille was to have been the first movie done without Disney, until Disney bought Pixar.

Ratatouille btw, is directed by the same person who did The Incredibles.

um, Disney now owns Pixar.

Now, but not when everything up to Cars was created. I wonder how much of Ratatouie (sp?) was done before the buy out.

Pixar never released a movie without Disney.

So? There are hundreds of small companies that have to go through the big ones to get funding or access to a large number of theaters.

Ratatouille was in production for about a year before the buyout by Disney. Most likely some writing and design work was happening even earlier.

I'm saying that the Pixar movies were as much a Disney film as they were Pixar. Disney owned the rights to the movies and the characters, they were not just a distributor. When Disney tried to take on even more creative control, Pixar opted to not renew the contract and of course the rest is now history since Disney bought Pixar, but in essence Pixar took control of Disney's film animation studio.

I think most folks still think of "Disney animated movie" as traditional animation. Pixar's work is so distinctive, and not just because of the medium, it really is in a separate category, IMO.

And yes, The Incredibles is one of the best animated films of all time and is a fabulous film by any standard. Its message is so counter to so much of Disney's body of work, I have to wonder whether the studio execs actually saw the whole script before the 11th hour.

I'm not sure it would matter whether they did or didn't. The distribution deal may have made Pixar characters Disney property, but I believe Pixar had creative control of the movies without Disney interferance. Now, Pixar runs Disney animation and I'm happy as a clam.
