But, as for buying online... some, like myself, simply don't have credit card access in order to purchase books online (please note that the books in my bookshelf were bought by some very nice EN Worlders).
Sure, there are the rare few that don't. But, really, we're now getting to an insignificant size of the market - those "FR fans" who: 1) don't have the original books and 2) don't have a credit card and 3) can't find it for sale used and 4) can't find it on ebay... We're getting to such a small subset of the market that their particular wants re: FR are not really worth paying attention to.

Any geography changes have clearly been attended to already (FRCS). NPC levels and classes have rarely changed, and in most cases not enough to merit an entirely new hardcover. A fighter is a fighter no matter what edition you're in.

As a final note - I have no problem with rehashes and retreads. Just use the scarce WotC resources to actually detail ignored areas first (namely: Lantan, Sossal, and Nimbral). Then they can regurgitate previously published material until the cows come home.

not to mention that the timeline has gone a ways from where second edition was (50 years or so).
You're way off. It's only 6 years (1368 - 1374).

Arn,

Yeah I didn't think 50 years had passed yet in the Realms. But even so it helps to keep advancing the time line anyway. Especially with all them novels out there doing crazy stuff...

Cold lands folks! I want it and I know others do too!

Yeah but come on...we want some cold lands too! ;)

Well that or we get moving to some where new...

In any case I think the first half of 3.x FR was better than the current half is.
