Title pretty much says it all.

I like abjuration... even more with complete arcane... those spells that delay teleportation look like fun.

Transmutation:
It is Batman's utility belt.

A single spell can sometimes accomplish what a dozen d20 rolls can, and with a smaller chance of failure.
Knock, Levitate, Move Earth, Polymorph, etc.

And then don't forget the party buffs.
Enlarge, Cat's Grace, Mass Cat's Grace, Haste, etc.

In 3e I had (pre errata) a Wizard with Leadership and Polymorph Other. Elven Warriors turned into Trolls who were better fighters than the party dwarf fighter. They just fell easily.

In 3.5E my most favorite concept (never found a DM to let me play it) was a Baleful Polymorphed Tamarin Monkey Sorcerer. He had spunk, a Human Familiar.

Transmutation, and for the same reasons as a previous poster.
