Pick your favorite 5th-level Summoned Monster from the list above -- the one your PC most commonly picks, or the one you see most frequently in your campaign, or the one which most resembles your Druid's choice Nature Ally.

The 5th-level list is the longest of them all, so I've attempted to select the top choices for the poll. Add a line describing why you've chosen the one you have -- especially if you picked "Other" and prefer something not on the list above!

Hunh?

It appears that I'm the only one that loves the fiendish giant crocodile. Have you people actually read the grappling rules? This beast kicks the tar out of anything else on the chart, hands down. Run an encounter and see.

Of course, you could have a favourite for asthetic reasons. Then the girallon does deserve more than its share of votes.

The arrowhawk is a magnificent summoned creature, I highly recommend them. Note that with the power of their ranged touch attacks, it is probably better to summon 1d3 small arrowhawks than 1 medium arrowhawk.

I'm with you kn the giant croc. It is big strong, does great damage, and the grapple kicks you know what. And it is a land/sea monster and I like that multi-terain functionaility. The lion I guess gets points for its pounce ability, but since you can place these things where you want I generally assume a full round of attacks in its 1st round anyways.

It's all about the 1d4+1 pseudonatural dire weasels w/ the alientist prestiege class in Tomb and Blood. Average 3 weasels. All usually hit with their true strike ability. Average damage doesn't matter. Average Con loss is 6 per round. :)

Fear my weasels of death! :p

And another thing...

Does the lion even get its pounce ability when you summon it? Usually, monsters are summonned once the battle is underway, and the lion gets its ability in "the first round of cobmat". Doesn't this mean that it loses this pounce ability if summonned after the battle has begun?
