Favourite D&D Ruleset

3e (and to a greater extent, 3.5) fixed everything that was broken about D&D. I am sorry to see it cast down by Wizard's (entirely understandable) need to move product.

Right now, 4e is my favorite, followed closely by 1e. 4e is like being reunited with your best friend you haven't seen since childhood (in this case 1e)! Yeah, the mechanics of 4e and 1e are very different, but for some odd reason, they give a very similar play experience to my group, so we love it!

This seems to be a common feeling amongst 4e supporters. Until 4e, 1e was may favourite version of D&D. However, I feel that 4e is the first time that they have maintained the spirit of 1e whilst updating it with modern game design.

4e has definitely taken this mantle for me. Second would be 2e with 1e classes.

People seem to be statting their preference without comparing it to or attacking other editions. Therefore it lacks the "war" part.

I voted 3.5, but I would have said Pathfinder RPG, had it been listed. Pathfinder is the real D&D.

I voted 1st ed. It's the only edition that I keep going back to over and over again whenever I get sick of whatever is in print at the time.
