Favourite Warlock Pact

What is your favourite warlock pact?

In order:

1. Star - My favourite pact boon and fun flavour. I do hate the split stats, but I view the Star Pact as being a dual pact, either a CONlock or a CHAlock, it's a matter of what do you give up? If you're a CON Starlock, you give up Paragon Paths, as both star lock paths use CHA for their attacks. If you're a CHA Starlock, you give up your second at will, because landing a tiertiary stat vs. Fort is just not gonna happen.

2. Dark - There's something deliciously fun about the idea of harming one's own allies to boost damage to the enemy. Plus, I like provoking OAs to activate Darkspiral Aura. Finally, "Your Delicious Weakness" is one of the best names for a power yet.

3. Fey - Close call for second, I like the teleports and the powers a lot.

....

4. Infernal - Just not a fan. I think it's because in general, I build CHAlocks, even Starpact warlocks I've designed are all CHA-based.

Starlock is far and away my favorite, with Infernal a distance second.

And yes, I love Lovecraft, so that may have something to do with it.

Actually what I love about the Star pact is that it's the most abstract and "neutral" of them.

The Infernal and Dark pact are inherently evil.
The Fey pact (and Dark pact also) is maybe too personified. It feels like you made a bargain with a speciffic being in another plane or place, to whom you owe something.

I think starlock magic can feel more personal, I mean, you weave it by your own means, be it through hard study (astrology) or channeling power from the far realms.

It's very outer space, mutants, cosmic radiation, and, like someone said earlier, tentacles are too cool :D

What I see in play is mostly Feylocks. I'm interested to try all the types, but Darklocks seem too tough to actually make work effectively, and Inferlocks seem boring. Starlocks hold the most interest for me, because you can have any of three entirely different builds: Con/Int, Cha/Int, or Con/Cha.

I still have to try out a Warlock myself. Flavourwise, the Infernal pact seems to me the most interesting, especially since it allows many interpretations, and it's the 'classic' Faustian warlock feel.

The Infernal and Dark pact are inherently evil.
Say what now? The Infernal pact is, as stated in the book, based on channeling stolen power from Asmodeus himself, and can be reflavoured either way. Anti-hero style, perhaps. Evil? Not really. Dark pact is a little bit less ambiguous, but can be interpreted either way. Warlocks are, if anything, an attempt to step away from 'dark magic is always evil', especially so in 4th (where they are free to pick any alignment).

I didn't mean that. I was just saying that the origin is evil. You use that power for whatever you want. But because of that I prefer the star pact, because it is more neutral, and can feel more natural to the 'lock.
Also the Spawn/Hellboy archetype is so "comercial" now heheheh

Anyway, I think they're all interesting, and I hope to play characters of all pacts. I'm fascinated with this class :)

I think I would be a bigger fan of Warlock pacts in general if there were some better guidelines for playing them. As it stands, I am unfamiliar enough with D&D cosmology to not fully understand what a fey pact entails.

At the same time, I am really hoping for 2 new pacts in Arcane Power:
1) Angelic pact
2) Draconic pact

We were speculating in another thread that Arcane Power will feature some sort of celestial or astral pact based on the name of one of the warlock paragon paths mentioned at DDXP 2009 (it was called the God Fragment). However, I don't think that despite their being a dragon themed warlock in 3.5e, a draconic pact warlock in 4e would seem to step on the toes of another arcane striker, the dragonblooded sorcerer.

Of all the warlock pacts, the Star Pact is probably the most flavorful (the listing of stars is the awesome), but this is principally due to the Dragon 366 article "Wish Upon a Star." The MotP kind of touched on the Fey Pact, but all the other pacts would definitely benefit from an article like the Star Pact's.
