Feats & Fighters

I wouldn't be surprised to see it take over a core class feature of the Ranger, then get deleveled and possibly even restricted to 1/round. This prevents Half-elves abusing it, frankly that's 99% of the abuse twin strike gets is Half-Elves and Revenants with Half-Elf soul scumming it up taking it then at-willing it with versatile master. If not, who knows what could happen to twin strike, but I imagine it won't be pretty.

Making it a class feature is a pretty good solution for the Dilettante issues, but I would still like it to see a nerf relative to some of the other at-wills (I guess that's what you mean by 'deleveled'). Improving Careful Shot helped, but only early on and only contributes to a power-creep arms race.

Another solution to TS might involve giving it "fixed" damage, thus preventing its excellent scaling via static damage bonuses (most of which would no longer apply).

Just realized there were no feats for the Ranger to swap with Hunter/Scout. Though, honestly I wanted to trade Disrupting Strike for Disrupting shot, but that's probably going to get nerfed with Twin Strike too.

Those are coming later on actually. This month was just the weaponmaster/arcanist/templar (basically the feats relating to classes from Heroes of the Forgotten Lands). The next one I think will be the whatever druid/whatever ranger/whatever slightly different ranger. I think.

It's a huge nerf and they also nerfed the epic level 1. Force the Battle also got a massive hit with the nerf stick as well. Actually overall I think the fighter has had a bit of a decrease in power with this.

I have to admit that I need to take a moment for some schadenfreude from another discussion earlier about the way the Mage/Wizard swapping works. You need three feats to pick all of them up - albeit getting evocation works nicely I have to admit. They do in fact require the previous feat as well, so a wizard needs at least 3 feats to pinch everything a mage gets (but that was obvious, it was NEVER EVER going to be 1 feat). I couldn't see it being done any other way, but it does indeed mean that I called mages needing 1 feat to get implement mastery (albeit they lose their school)

Come and get it being nerfed is hilarious. Hilarious I tell you. If it shuts up the incessant whining about it though, it will have been worth it.
I can´t see the swap feat you are referring to... (lose school for implement mastery)

but yes, a wizard needing 3 feats to get a single scool of magic benefit and losing implement mastery is a pretty bad deal...

the only thing left for him is ritual mastery then... I guess starting out as a mage seems better by far...

I must need my crazy bucket again, because I misread the Templar power swap as a wizard (for some reason - or thought there was an equivalent). Actually the templar swap is one of the worst deals. Lose healers lore and another feature for a domain? Maybe for some of the better domains...

Well, I may have overreacted to the "nerf" of come and get it, which actually isn't really that bad in the end: But oh boy did poor old Pelor's Radiance cop it big time.

Tell me more about why it's not such a bad nerf - I have a Come and Get It fighter in my game and we will have to decide whether or not to implement this nerf.

My default position is to leave the power as it currently is, not so much on power considerations - whether or not CaGI is overpowered in some absolute sense, in my view it hasn't proved to be so at my table - but because I'm irritated at WotC apparent determination to reverse all the design innovations that made 4e the first modern version of D&D.
