One thing I think I would eventually like to see is a top-down reassement of feats, at least from WotC. I'm willling to wait, because something like that would probably require a new edition, and I'm not ready for that.
I think in my ideal univese, 4e wouldn't change the core mechanic of the game at all, would feature a few small but needed tweaks to things like combat mechanics and such, but would mostly be concerned with top-down rethinks of classes/PrCs, feats, CRs, action types, spells and metamagic, and so forth. The core of the game would remain the same, but most of the material around that core would be changed quite considerably.
In my ideal universe, 4e would also be published in two versions: the lite version consisting of the PHB/DMG/MM, and the deluxe version that consists of about a dozen books: A core rulebook, then books for feats, spells, psionics, magic items, classes, monsters, and so on, essentially reprinting the entirety of 3e, but done in a consistent and complete manner (between MM, MMII, MMIII, MMIV, FF and the sourcebooks, there's probably enough monsters for two or three books the size of the current MM, so I'd rather have three books).
I know, of course, that that's not going to happen. And, not wanting to derail this thread too far (and knowing how 4e discussions annoy so many people here), I'll say no more.
