"I would not say noble, necessarily, but certainly far less wasteful than just having them sit there in stocks. It is not the system of punishment that makes this place so barbaric, per se...Outsiders? If anyone summons an outsider that does something dishonourable, it is banished back to the planes."

Rystil Arden said:
"Shidan is...shidan. I guess you might call it 'indentured service' or 'community service'."
Oirhandir had a small flash of insight into how Lasair's people lived. "I haven't lived in these lands long myself", he ventured, "but what you are talking about sounds much like the 'jail and hard labor' that the sheriff threatened Sunny with."

Carsis"Small towns are nice I think. Neighborly neighbors, everyone looks out for eachother, and they all relly on each other. Too many people drop though the cracks in a big city."

Troi nods. "I s'pose ya could say that. But I like th' things ya can do in a bigger city, y'know? Th' opportunities ya find in a place like Orussus are hard ta come by in some place like Covin'ton. Besides, ya can fin' people that'll look out fer ya an' watch yer back in th' big cities, ya jus' gotta know where ta look."

As you walk through the east field, you see a Kitara offering an odd juice made from figs, a dwarf selling beer battered beef balls from beer fed bulls, and a gnome who's showing people how to play an odd game with rocks and a wooden board with holes in it.
