Sunny, failing to get any of the guidence he was looking for, turns to Daphnie and stutters "Y..you want to ma..ma..marry me?"

Daphnie responds with a smile "Of course Sunny. The teller told me I'd meet the man who'd take me away from here, and I'm sure now that it's you."

A big grin appears on his face "I'll do it. I'll marry you Daphnie."

The scene that follows is a bit awkward, as the Mayor runs to pull the two appart after some very animated shows of affection, especialy for a tied up guy. Ahh, young love. He clears his throat as if nothing happened and says "Well, we'll have a wedding then, at the end of the festival." He turns to Sunny and says "I'll have the Sheriff release you if you'll stay at your caravan and only leave with an escort."

Sunny nods in responce, "Of course."

The Sherrif turns to Troi "You think you can keep him in line?"

Troi respond "Shouldn't be a problem."

The mayor pulls Daphnie off Sunny again. "I think we'll need an escort for Daphnie as well. Perhaps Hellen will watch over her..."

Elise claps her hands and sighs happily, quite relived that no one is going to jail "Congradulations Sunny!"

"Yes, indeed. The daughter of the Holdmistress of Clan Covington, and she is rather attractive as well and seems to like you. A fine first wife, I think. Though I still find these marriage customs odd. A girl should have the right to lay a wreath at the feet of any man she likes, and he may choose whether or not to take it, rather than being forced by the father..."

"First wife, you mean..." Sunny says excitedly before he catches himself. "Um, isn't that a bit uncivilized to have more than one wife?"

*Lasair glares.*

"Uncivilised? Hardly! What is uncivilised is to have a father who intrudes on his daughter's love and choices in a such a way as to have her man arrested--that is positiviely barbaric!"

Sunny backtracks "Well, I uh, um... I'm a one woman man. Yes indeed, no need for any other."

Daphnie and the Mayor both smile.

Troi whispers to Lasair "I think he's trying to score some points with his bride to be and her father. Talking about other women isn't going do that."

"Such a strange place," Lasair whispers back to Troi, "One would think that it would be a sign of great vhal for a woman to have good reliable sister-wives...Such a strange place."

Troi shrugs

OOC: [sblock]Ok RA, part of what you have for your odd culture is from Robert Jordan (The Aiel), but not all of it. Where else are you getting some of this?[/sblock]

It's is odd, but it's the custom in many place. Though around here, it's cutomary for the man to propose marrage to a woman he love, Then she gets to decide weather to accept or not"

OK, fine, you caught me on the sister-wives. When I created Lasair, my idea was Aiel meets (what little I know of) Dark Sun (which is almost nothing except that there's psionics) meets random stuff that I made up myself

"Wow, the man asks and the woman chooses to accept? That is quite the opposite of the way they do it back home..."
