Festival of Halina (Orsal Judging)

As they approach Valdor's camp, Troi's brow furrows slightly in concentration. After a few moments of apparently deep thought, his expression returns to normal.

"[Elven] Oirhandir,
did anything back there seem kinda... I dunno, awkward?
" Troi's accent still manages to carry through into the elven language, distorting it into something awkward but not altogether unpleasant, and it is plainly obvious that he hasn't spoken the language in quite some time. "[Elven]
Somethin' about
Daphnie
is gettin' ta me... dunno, maybe it's somethin' she said. It's somethin' about her fam'ly... I dunno, I jus' got a hunch that somethin's goin' on that's not really obvious, y'know? Can't think a anythin' specific, er anythin', jus' somethin'... awkward.
"

Oirhandir replied without missing a beat, pleased that Troi had addressed him in the High Tongue. Had Troi used elven before in his presence? Oirhandir couldn't recall.

His diction in his native tongue precise, he replied, "
Well, it seemed no more awkward to me than what you might expect in that situation. Truly, with as many misunderstandings as had taken place, perhaps the wonder is that the proceedings weren't more awkward!
" After a pause, he continued, "
I'd say
Daphne
behaved about like what one would expect of a young lady who had feelings for someone, felt spurned, saw the object of her desire suffer out of proportion to her ill-feelings toward him, found out that she had misunderstood his intentions, and was now faced with marriage to someone she desired. Were you thinking instead of something she said to you while the two of you were searching for
Sunny?"

Oirhandir returned Scarlet's wave and smile, greeting her warmly. "Scarlet!
You won't believe what just happened!
", he announced in elven. Gesturing to Sunny, he continued, "Sunny
, my fellow worker, has just gotten engaged to
Daphnie
, the mayor's daughter. And they're to be married four days hence, at the closing festival of the ceremony!
"

Realizing that Sunny probably couldn't understand him, he reverted quickly back to the Common Tongue. "Oh, I seemed to have lost my manners. Scarlet, this is my friend Sunny, who helps guard Master Ingus's caravan. And Sunny, this is my dear friend Scarlet. Oh, and this is Troi, and that's Lasair, also with our caravan -- I think the two of you met yesterday." After greetings were exchanged, he lowered his voice, talking quietly with Scarlet. "Scarlet, dear, Sunny has asked me to be his best man at the wedding, and he's a little lost. I know he needs to get a ring, and some proper clothing, and to plan a honeymoon, but I'm not sure what else to do. Could you help us out a little, maybe suggest some things we ought to do? My friend Elise is over at the mayor's house, talking about the wedding plans with the bride-to-be. But I'd be grateful for any advice you might have."

Troi ponders Oirhandir's thoughts, then shrugs.

"[Elven]
I'm not too sure a what I was thinkin', I jus' thought that somethin' seemed a little off, is all. I think th' feelin' hit me when somebody said somethin' 'bout th' mayor's family, but I'm havin' problems remem'brin'... anyhow, jus' do me a favor'n keep yer ears open, y'know?
"

Oirhandir
"... Oh, and this is Troi, ..."

At this, Troi nods to Scarlet. "Nice ta meet ya, Scarlet."

As everyone leaves, elise gets quite well, that Oirhandir wants her to go, but she can't fathom why "Alright" she says to herself and sets off for the mayors home.

Serious OOC

OOC: Just wanted everyone to know that Hurricane Rita is a real threat to me right now. I plan to stick around as long as possible, but once it makes landfall, it may take anywhere from a few hours to several weeks for me to get back online. At this point, I think it's fairly clear what Oirhandir is trying to do...help out Sunny while scoring as many points with Scarlet in the process as possible. So, if you don't hear from me for an extended length of time, you know what direction to take it in.

Elise (And Lasair?):
The Mayor's house is not to far from the Sheriff's office, and is one of the larger houses in the town. You see movement in the windows as you arive.

Oirhandir and Troi (And Lasair?):

Scarlet says "Oh, well, Congratulations Sunny. Nice to meet ya Troi."

She ponders for a moment "Well, I can help look for a ring, but Valdor and I are the people to talk to for clothing."

She calls Lord Valdor out, who greats you all "Well met Troi, I'm Lord Valdor, but you can skip the lord part, we're amonst friends."

Scarlet begins to talk to Valdor about Sunny needing some proper attire, and makes a few suggestions. Valdor looks at Sunny as if sizing him up. "Hrmm, I think I know just the thing, but I'll have to size it. Do you trust me Sunny?"

Sunny turns to look at Valdor, looks over at Oirhandir and Scarlet, who both nod, and says "Sure, why not."

"Excelent" Valdor exclaims "Then I'll make you something fine indeed, and in the spirit of the festival, It's on me."

Lord?... this is getting to be too much. Especially one who is so free to drop his title and do things for free... very awkward. This place is so... creepy. Maybe it's just because I'm from a place where there was no such thing as a free lunch...

Troi nods in acknowledgement of Valdor's charity.

"Well, if ya don't mind, I kinda need ta be with 'im where he goes fer now... I'm s'posed ta be keepin' an eye on 'im, y'know? So if ya need 'im ta go somewhere, I hafta go, too."
