Few Vow of Poverty questions

He goes on to say that a cleric who has to give up his holy symbol could be an interesting challenge (no turning undead, or casting spells that require a divine focus).

Heh. Like playing a warrior. :p

So if it doesn't stack with armor bonus... I understand that too be armor bonus not enhancement to armor bonus. Othewise it would read it doesn't stack with other armor bonuses.

A brilliant energy weapon will pierce armor as if it is not there. It ignore armor bonuses and any enhancement bonuses to those armor bonuses.

My interpretation is that enhancement bonuses are part of the armor bonus. So +1 Full Plate has an effective +9 armor bonus, +1 of which is the enhancement bonus, all +9 of which is ignored by brilliant energy weapons, and none of which stacks with the exalted bonus to AC. If the exalted bonus does not stack with the armor bonus, then it won't stack with the enhancement to the armor bonus. IMHO.

Well, that's what you get when the posters don't supply the full text of an ability.

If the bonus from VoP doesn't stack with Armor bouses (because it specifically mentions that it does not), then it likewise does not stack with Enhancement to Armor bonuses.

Patryn: Yup!

The text specifically states that armor bonuses don't stack with the Exalted bonus to AC. (IMHO, that's not a good ruling. It's a different type, so it should stack. Very un-d20!!!))

Here's the actual Text (typed by hand; egads!)

AC Bonus (Sp) A 1st level ascetic receives a +4 exalted bonus to his AC. The bonus increases to +5 at 3rd level, and thereafter increases by +1 for each 3 character levels. This bonus does not apply to touch attacks and does not hinder incorporeal touch attacks. Brilliant energy weapons, however, do not ignore this bonus. This does not stack with an armor bonus.
There.

That should answer the "brilliant weapon questions" as well.

Remember, kids: an enhancement bonus to armor is still an armor bonus.

read the last sentence under the ac bonus, yes it is an exalted bonus, but :it counts as an armour bonus and therefore does not stack with armour"

Damage Reduction is 5/magic until 15th lvl where the book says "this improves to 5/evil.."

Does that mean:

1 - 5/magic AND evil
2 - 5/magic OR evil
3 - 5/evil only... no longer 5/magic
4 - Or both are valid ?

A VoP cleric could sew a likeness of his holy symbol into his plain clothes. Or, he could brand his holy symbol on the palms of his hands.

Golden ice is the one really nifty thing to come out of there. The rest of the book is mostly concerned with self-referential feat trees that eat up all the feats you get from taking VoP.

If it bothers you, consider that most DMs will throw a pretty hefty mix of nonevil opponents at their parties, which mitigates the feat somewhat. Also, if I'm not mistaken, ravages use the poison rules, and undead are immune to poison. Someone might want to check before taking my word on that.
