Fields of Blood

My current campaign has convinced me that I am in desperate need of a mass combat system. Unfortunately I have been dissapointed with the current mass combat systems that have been published. I am looking forward to Eden's Fields of Blood: Book of War. Since it looks as if the entire book is devoted to mass combat and ruling kingdoms (something that I plan to incorporate a lot into my current campaign) I am really excited. However a few questions come to mind

1. When will this book be released? This is my biggest question.

2. Are the mass combat rules compatible with miniatures? Since my campaign makes extensive use of miniatures for combat situations, I am looking for a mass combat system that likewise makes use of miniatures.

3. Will the mass combat system be able to handle large scale battles? (Each sides having tens of thousands of troops) Will it be able to handle my campaign's battle of Armegeddon?

The book will be released about a month after it's done. I don't know when it will be done, but I do some work on it every day.

Ah, I guess it depends on how you define 'miniature.' There are two ways to resolve a Battle in Fields of Blood. You can either add up your army values and roll on this chart, or you can actually break out a warboard and fight it out. While we know many people will use the first set of rules, the second set is by far the more complex and robust and, frankly, fun.

We use Warmaster minis when we test battles. They're pretty good and you can get whole painted armies cheap off eBay. Furthermore, one way or the other, we want to include counters so you can play even if you don't have minis. Lastly, you could just use an Orc mini to represent a unit of Elite Orc Heavy Infantry, but the battle would look weird.

The Book of War is designed to handle very large battles. Very large.
