Fighter Mark + Disruptive Strike

First Post
Hello,

Building a fighter and was considering potential multi-classes, was considering Ranger for +Perception +Hunter's Quarry once an encounter and the potential to use a couple of the ranger powers.

Was reading "Disruptive Strike" and saw it was an Immediate Interrupt and wondered how this would work with the fighters mark.

Say you (fighter) and a Paladin have a Goblin flanked and the paladin is marking it... Goblins turn comes around and it thinks "I'm going to attack the Paladin". So as an Immediate Interrupt you uses Disruptive Strike on the goblin and hit. (say you have 12 Wis)

NOW what happens?

Goblin gets -3 atk (-4 from Disruptive Strike)
Goblin gets -6 atk (-2 from mark and -4 from Disruptive Strike)
Goblin gets -6 atk AND attacked from mark (because it's marked when it makes the attack)

I think it's the third option but am not sure.

Cheers,
SJay

EDIT: Opps reading other threads and noticed the whole Combat Challenge attack is an Immediate Interrupt and that you only get one of these a round. So it has to be one of the first two, would now say it would be -6 atk.

I'd have to go with option 2. Your immediate interrupt precedes the goblin's attack, so your mark replaces the paladin's mark before it attacks.

IF you choose to mark it. There is no reason why you can't hit it with your Disruptive Strike and choose to NOT mark the creature. The fighter's mark is generally optional, not automatic (unless specifically indicated otherwise in a power's text).

So the fighter gets his choice of scenario 1 or 2, depending on whether he wants the Paladin's mark to be in effect after the attack or his own:

1: Goblin (marked by Paladin) attacks Paladin; Fighter takes immediate interrupt and attacks Goblin, choosing to overwrite the Paladin's mark. Assuming the Disruptive Strike hits, the goblin is now marked by the fighter (-2) and under the effects of the Disruptive Strike (-4). Assuming the goblin is alive, it continues its attack on the Paladin but is now hitting with a -6. The fighter does not get a free attack in response to the goblin attacking the paladin because he only gets one immediate and used his immediate on the disrupting strike.

Goblin (marked by Paladin) attacks Paladin; Fighter takes immediate interrupt and attacks the Goblin, choosing not to overwrite the Paladin's mark. Assuming the Disruptive Strike hits, the goblin is still marked by the Paladin and under the effects of the Disruptive Strike (-4). Assuming the goblin is alive, it continues its attack on the Paladin but is now hitting with a -4.

Scenario 1 is better at this time, but the party may have reasons for wanting the Paladin's mark to remain (maybe they are hoping for the damage, maybe the Fighter is almost dead and doesn't want the extra attention, etc.).
