Specialization only work in 30fts too.

WOW thats medusa have 21 fghter lvls??????????? He is a 27lvl character...

And her CR is Medusas CR + 21
She is intended for an epic campaign of EL 26.

Her CR is Medusa CR + 20 for the fighter: they specify in the ELH that all class levels pass 20 are halved, thus a 30th level monk is CR 25.

I think that makes sense when you compare a 30th level PC to a CR 30 critter from the ELH: they are NASTY.

One thing I learned from DM'ing epic games: NEVER base yourself on the CR of a monster to determine if it is an equal challenge for your party. Look at all it's stats, sit back, and really, really think about it before putting it in your adventure.

I got VERY close calls. A few weeks back, I put a Sirrush (CR 24) against a level 25 party. After the first round of combat, I looked at the monster's stats more closely, and said outloud "sorry, I think I really farked up good this time. I have NO idea how you'll get out of this one...". However, the next attack the PC did forced the critter to save v.s. massive damage. No fudging, I rolled a 1 on it's Fort save. I was soooo relieved. If not, it was a guaranteed TPK.

From then on, I was very careful about what I throw at the party. Very. Even then, very few combats are a cakewalk.

I love epic gaming.

The funny thing is, what makes her really nasty are two feats: Dire Charge, and Resounding Blow.

Resounding blow, with the fact that she crits on a 15+, will guarantee she is worth every single digit of her CR...

...and I put about 15 or so of 'em in tomorrow's game. :D

The PC carries a dozen wands of cure light wounds (the most cost effective way to heal yourself in a dungeon, no matter WHAT level you play). He goes through them like crazy, and we use the average (5.5 hit points) instead of rolling. When a PC needs to cure 250 hit points, it's much faster in game time... in dungeon time, of course, it's close to 5 minutes.

Damn... I just realised. The PC's go on heroic feast every day, which means that they'll be immune to Resounding Blow AND the medusa's poison.

Oh well... she can still petrify, and dishes out good damage...

The fighter looks pretty mean, but have you thought about ranger levels instead. The favored enemy bonuses and bow combat path might produce some good results too. Just a thought.

Can you put them under some sort of time limit so they don't have that hour to waste that day?

Mmmm... I *could* but that's now how this particular module will be played (the victims to be rescued are petrified, and have all the time in the world). Plus the game starts in 1 hour.

The poison I don't mind (she has to hit, and even then, the PC will save on a 2 or higher, so it wasn't really a consideration), but the Resounding Blow I will miss... the PC has been using that feat for a while, and I wanted him to have a little taste of his own medicine :-).

Say... what happens if a dispel magic is cast on a PC that is under the 12 hour influence (poison, fear immunity), will the Poison and Fear immunity be suppressed ?

The duration is "one hour plus twelve hours", so yes.

Well, no. Not suppressed. Dispelled.
