You know, it sounds to me lke your DM has either a) never read the Psionic HB b) read it and didn't understand it or c) read it and dediced to hate it. This seems evident to me as he constantly forces you to abandon your deserving psionic powers and abilities and take 'core' classes when you don't need or want to. To me, this DM isn't the kind of DM I would even wish to play with, as he just seems pretty anal when it comes to player choices. If he didn't want Psions in his campaign, he should tell you flat out; to allow you to make one and then tear him apart power by power seems abusive and unnecessary.

I say forget fighter and take your two levels in Psychic Warrior. It's almost as good as a reg fighter, plus you get MORE powers to compensate for the ones you lack.

I would also consider running my own game. Players can come out of the woodwork if you kick the woodwork hard and often enough.

Runesong - The Fighter levels are an RP preferrence. PsyWar would run into the same problem as Psions in that they also need a bit of maturity to function properly. This means they'll still have training in another class. I don't penalise my players that way, but when I make a character, I stick to this rule.

No, he doesn't know what Psions are about. He is screaming bloody murder after reading Psionic Meditation, he is crying about a host of other things. He is also the one screaming about Mystic Theurge as being uber overpowered. The problem is that he reads the WotC boards which seem to be full of whiners and nay-sayers. They moan about something being too powerful and he starts screaming himself without actually playing it and finding out.

I'd just like to take the opportunity to point out that if you feel psions and the like should have some measure of "normal" skills, that could be easily handled by picking up ranks of Craft and/or Profession, and not unduly handicap you power-wise. Might not work for the concept you're after now, but that's what I'd do.

You have my sympathies.

One thing I'm kind of curious about...is he not screaming over Energy Missile's augmentation cost?

If so, he'd be the first psionic-nerfing DM I've heard of who didn't. :)

Pretty sure he will the second I use it, which I probably won't for a bit.

There is a slight chance that the PCs will be upset that I don't seem to do much in combat (with everything suppressed, I'd be very surprised that they can figure it out). The PC Sorceror is the braggart type (IC, that is) and so he might decide to be uppity when my blunt character responds, and may fire off a few MMs my way. If he does, any objections from you DMs to me doing a PK and killing him with an overchanneled, empowered max aug'd Crystal Shard (he only has about 40 hps), followed by a "don't EVER do that again"?

Save it for a really big battle.
