The group are good friends outside of this game. When he is not a DM, he is a nice guy. That's the problem. The group will go along with anything in the name of that friendship.

Taking control of this group is a good way to alienate the entire group. The game is not worth that.

It seems like you have a conflict in what you are stating here.

If the group are good friends, why would taking control of the group alienate the entire group? Good friends should have no problem sitting down together and saying "Hey, this does not work for me, let's fix it.". Do it in a positive manner and if the friends are really friends, they won't have a problem with it.

In any case, I gave you the best advice I had. Either you take it, or you do not.

KarinsDad - Don't rock the boat and all that. I'm only staying in the group until I find another gig in town.

JMichels - I plan to do that at every opportunity with the Psion. Not attracting attention and all that.

If you aren't allowed healing, damage prevention is the next best thing: forced share pain, inertial barrier (kineticist), fiery discorporation (kineticist; carry a torch at all times !), energy adaptation

Diirk - I already have IB in my powers list. One of the first things I chose. Question on Fiery D. Do I come back fully healed?

Let's see.... so that's

Human: Wild Talent (general)
Char1: Expanded Knoweledge (Psionic)
Ftr1: Improved Initiative (Figther Bonus)
Ftr2: Rapid Reload (Figther Bonus)
Char3: Expanded Knowledge (Psionic)
Psion1: Psionic Body (Psionic)
Char6: Expanded Knowledge (Psionic)
Psion5: Empty (Psionic)
Char9: Expanded Knowledge (Psionic)
Char12: Expanded Knoweledge (Psionic)
Psion10: Empty (Psionic)

Small problem: At 1st level, you didn't qualify for Expanded Knoweledge - or rather, you didn't have a manifester level, so you couldn't take any powers with it, unless you took your first level in Psion (which you were avoiding for flavor reasons, correct?)

With no metapsionic feats, I might suggest Overchannel and Talented - at 12th, overchannel will permit you to make up those two manifester levels (but not powers known or power points) you lost to fighter (but you take 3d8 damage every time you do so - choose wisely!) and Talented lets you burn your focus to not take damage for powers boosted by Overchannel of 3rd level or lower - so you would manifest at your character level for the first Energy Burst of combat. Even better, both are plain Psionic, so you get the boost from Psionic Body, and neither has pre-requisites (other than the Psionic tag) so you can take one or the other of them for your first character level feat.

Another suggestion might be to take Elan for your starting race, rather than human (if that's acceptable - it's a stardard Psionic race, not a standard PHB race) and drop Wild Talent (you get 2 bonus power points and the Psionic designation from Elan anyway) to get the nifty ability to burn PP's to reduce the damage you take as an immediate action.

More like:

Human: Wild Talent (general)
Char1: Psionic Body (Psionic)
Ftr1: Improved Initiative (Fighter Bonus)
Ftr2: Rapid Reload (Fighter Bonus)
Char3: Empty
Psion1: Empty
Char6: Expanded Knowledge (Psionic)
Psion5: Expanded Knowledge (Psionic)
Char9: Expanded Knowledge (Psionic)
Char12: Expanded Knoweledge (Psionic)
Psion10: Empty

And I just realised I can't take Teleport because I can only EK up to 4th level.

The DM wanted me to take Human after nearly having a heart attack when I went in with a Cha 6 character. He started screaming about dump stats and all that crap.
