Fighting Fury: Crazy Awesome?

I'm A Banana

Okay, it's a bit feat-intensive, but stay with me.

I got a melee ranger.

I multiclassed into monk, and took Improved Unarmed Strike. Now I dual-wield 1d10 fists (take that, bastard swords!).

I hit level 8, and lo, I can swap out a utility power. Not doing much with my utility powers now, let's see...oh!

Fighting Fury!

So...being a melee ranger, my STR is nice. As in, +5 bonus. As in, this single power gives all of my attacks +5 damage for an entire encounter?

And that keeps going up with my level?

That seems....crazy awesome.

Am I missin' something, or is this just a little niche build I stumbled on that happens to get nicely rewarded for spending a bunch of feats?

It also seems like there's nothing stopping me from using my hunter's quarry AND my flurry of blows on the same attack. Flurry of Blows is only 1/encounter, but still...double striker damage?

My current build is all minor-action attacks and two-attack standard actions and some movement stuff. So she's all about rolling as many attacks as possible in a round. And Fighting Fury just seems to boost all of them -- +5 damage per attack, so +10 damage on one enemy if I aim a Twin Strike at one enemy....and then +5 more damage if my Offhand Strike hits the same guy...and then possible quarry damage...and possible flurry damage...and maybe an action point for extra sauce....

Nice find. It's a daily, sure, but allows you to double-dip into Strength for an entire encounter. Still, feat-intensive, but if you build your character around it, very attractive.

Seems legit, if feat-intensive. Considering that a fighter/slayer can spend one feat to get Dex * 1.5 + slayer bonuses to damage on every attack (and dump Strength, and only worry about 1 weapon), I don't see an issue with it.

It's a little flabberghastin', because I didn't specifically look for it. I'm just trying to build a thri-kreen that makes as many attacks in a turn as possible. It seems that Fighting Fury specifically boosts this build more than it would boost others, since there's no limit on how many times I can apply that +STR MOD damage -- every melee unarmed strike I make (that is, all of my attacks) have that damage.

Seems like for most monks, it wouldn't be a big deal -- they're implement users. And for most STR-based classes, the feats needed are a bit prohibitive (Master of the Fist and Acolyte Power with a probable Improved Unarmed Strike) for the bonus granted (though it's still attractive to them -- double-STR Bonus on attacks for an encounter ain't too shabby, even if you aren't stacking it on top of itself like my character is).

I think I now have a back-up character for the 13th level casual game I'm in.

I took this munchkin idea, plus the munchkin idea in the beast companion thread. Sharpshooter paragon path plus beast protector feat means you can send your hawk out and it basically functions as a defender; if an enemy adjacent to your hawk moves, it provokes an OA, which you can take with your bow.

In melee I twin strike with punches, and I use my hawk to deter down enemies. If I could just find a way to slow when I hit with my bow, I'd be ridiculous.

The paladin power "Wrath of God" (or a similar name) does about the same thing, but to the damage of all allies attacks as well. It's available by 7th-level, so I assume it's a 6th-level utility.
