Wisdom feeds into some nice skills too... perception and Insight and survival

Wisdom skills get called for a lot but I'm not sure they are really that good. For example, perception is vastly overrated IMO.

That is a different kettle I do not trust 5e MCing.

Still relevant when comparing Cha fighters to Wis ones.

Sure - but that's still a far cry from the advantage of being completely weaponless.
That is a sometimes you get gold and sometimes only green and I think secondary weapons are secondary for a reason if they stay in my face its on going advantage if they beat feet i get an opportunity attack which is a better advantage perhaps. Particularly if ahem they have trouble beating feet because i have sentinel I might have a pretty solid got you that other melee allies can exploit too I have him with his bow out among melee combatants.

Like if I knocked him down only with no penalties for my ranged allies kind of.

I have actually been arguing for more impairments on normal adversaries or enhancement on pcs with enemies are below half hit points ... encourage pcs spreading out the damage instead of so much focus fire.

2 things

1: but if it happens to the PCs it leads to death spirals

2: Clearly the superior power is Thread Necromancy. High DPS, numerous action, pseudo-terrain shaping...

When the going get tough the tough get going means you actually target who this affects and who get a rush from danger and where it works better. In 4e a bunch of pcs and some more potent monsters arise to the occasion and get more awesome when it starts... only a potential spiral for "normal" and I said "enhancements on PCS" or did you miss that phrase.

I am a threadomancery...

Hi everyone. I've been fiddling with some things, but I realized that I'm not 100% sure of my own starting assumptions in one specific area of game balance. In an earlier thread discussing the balance between different Fighting Styles, I am not sure where the theoretical balance point should be between offense and defense. I'm not going to look at specific numbers here, and perfect balance may not be attainable, but I'd like to know where everyone's thoughts lay.
So if you think about it, no amount of defense will ever end a fight. And fights must end.
