Finally! Berserk Manga #3!

Amazon finally delivered my copy of Berserk #3.

It was pretty good. I liked the way that the events with the Count's wife didn't happen exactly the way one would assume they would. I was thinking for certain that he killed her in the sacrifice and made up the whole heretic thing. The truth is even more evil eh?

One thing I found myself wondering at was the timing of certain events in the anime now, like how Guts gets his nose cut by Gambino earlier in the manga than the anime. Probably would've been too much time I guess.

Does anyone know how many of these puppies Dark Horse is producing for the old American shores? I recall reading somewhere that they were doing 5. I know that in it's native language, it's up to like 15 or higher. Great stuff.

The Manga is up to #26 now (with no signs of it ending anytime soon!).

Last I heard, Dark Horse was planning on doing 3 and then seeing what the reception was. I hope to god they continue on, I've only been able to read the first 6 or so volumes in crappy scans on my comp. I'd much rather have a nice book.

Having seen the anime and knowing a little about it due to the web, I have to say... yes. after the Guardians of Desire ends, it starts The Golden Age with Guts found as an infant under the hanging tree and gets started there. Good stuff and I hope that they come out with more.

The 3rd Manga volume also contains what I would call 'essential' background material on Gutts. It helps explain why he is the way he is, although it is rather graphic...
