Finally getting caught up in d20 Modern via CyberPunk

I'm not sure if this should be in the d20 modern forum, but it's about my gaming in general, so I put it here

My thoughts on d20 modern were that it would be bought by a bunch of d20 D&D players who would then in all likelihood shelve it in the long run and return to D&D.

But this week I bought Living Room Games "Digital Burn", after watching for it since summertime (when it was advertised to be released according to the Origins 2002 booklet).

Ask Maldur if you don't know me... I'm a HUGE CyberPunk fan. I have what is probably the single largest source of original CyberPunk 2020 game material on the web.

And Digital Burn reminds me SO MUCH of the skeletal CyberPunk RPG that was CyberPunk 2013. It has all the rules, but little of the actual CyberPunk substance... but it could... oh, it could.

So, my current ambition is to write d20 CyberPunk material. Not just a little bit, not even a lot, but METRIC BOATLOADS of it. Now let's hope that Living Room Games is willing to buy my work, or some other print publisher is willing to take the risk on d20 CyberPunk.

Lol, so does this mean we can expect another free PDF from Ambient Inc. with a title somewhat like, "Downloadable Webspace Full of Gear"?

Seriously, though, do you think d20 Modern has what it takes to fit the Cyberpunk bill? I would've thought there'd be better systems out there to reflect such a setting. Although, I suppose in market-place terms, d20 would be the way to go.

You know... I have a story that's been shelved for years now that revolves around a cyberpunk character... wanna work with me? :D

Damm you, Hound, now I'm going to buy that book....

I shouldn't, I guess I'll have to pass without lunch this week, but I'm going to buy it. I have to choice, lunch money or Cyberpunk, I choose Cyberpunk...

Horacio: If you are wanting to RUN a CyberPunk game with this book, you may find it limiting. It REALLY reminds me of CyberPunk 2013, being very skeletal. But it DOES do everything you want from a CyberPunk core book - it just needs a LOT of additional material to become the centre of a CyberPunk campaign.

Yup, that is just what I want, the d20 rules...

I have tons of Cyberpunk stuff waiting to be converted and used... :D

Me too.

Haven't been this excited about writing material in a year or so!

Hmm I saw Digital Burn in one of my FLGS, but it was £27.99 for what appeared to be a hard bound pamphlet, it made the WotC books near it look like bargin bin prices. Okay maybe not that bad but it was about half as thick as say Traps of Treachery which was the same price, plus the illustrations were just appeared to be photos of goths around town.

Now you tell me it doesn't really have enough info to run a Cyberpunk campaign... well it will be moving way down my priority purchase list (if I had a list).

Bye, bye, lunch this week... I'll survive on coffee and cookies.
Because I'm going to buy it...
