Personally, my thoughts were "ZzzzZZzzZZzzzZZZzzZZzzz...ninjas? NINJAS!
Yeah! Finally something interesting happens!"

I like Ninjas.

The entire movie was a pretty contrived Hollywoodization of Meiji Japan, but that scene was the most blatant.

But, I like Ninjas. NINJAS!

In modern Hollywood it's always Kung Fu this, Samurai that. Not enough ninjas.

Well, at least the ninjas didn't show up until spring, when the the mountain pass was passable again.

When the ninjas attacked I thought it was a blatant attempt to please the audience but later realized it made perfect sense.

Are we talking about the same Hollywood?

Yeah. I mean when did we last get a ninja flick? It's always frickin' Kung Fu
nowadays. Kung Fu just doesn't cut it. Not kewl enough. Some half naked
guy doing silly things to a lot of people in fights that last waaaaay too long.

But I agree with dreaded, we need more cowboys too. Too much martial arts
and not enough brawling and guns. What did The Matrix give us? Slow motion
action scenes, kung-fu and gun-fu. But we never see any gun-fu. We need
more gun-fu.

I miss good action movies.
