Yup, I loved Transformers in the 80s. I will mention another of my favourites that hasn't been touched on yet: Visionaries (the "Knights of the Magical Light"). At the time, it was probably one of the least stereotypical cartoons with refreshing story lines and complex characters (although the bad guys tended to be jokes).

In a way, it was the 80s equivalent of Gargolyes (my 90s pick).

The plot is based on the first book (by Gordon R Dickson); the dragon-physics are based on The Flight of Dragons, by Peter Dickinson (not Dickenson, note ).

80s - Nausicaa - Still the best Ghibli film.

90s - For American based cartoons, seriously nothing compares to The Simpsons. The quality of the show reached its peak at around the fourth fifth season and pretty much stayed there.

2000+ - I like Samurai Jack for the design but some of the plots are a bit thin. Probably best animation is Spirited Away.

Best design goes to Steamboy.

Just as an aside - something I always found very distracting on the new He-Man cartoon was the fact that Man-At-Arms was voiced by the same guy who did Optimus Primal in Beast Wars (and then went on to do Prime in Armarda and Energon). Very confusing for me. I kept expecting him to turn into a giant ape or something.

Inuyasha still the best for me. (Though now that we are in the year 2000, Samurai Champloo and Elfen Lied are my current favs. Along with Megas XLR and soon to be seen PuffyYumia. I love them gals.)

80s had some decent ones but I can't remember much other than Transformers.

I did like Skeleton Warriors. (Wish they hadn't cancelled it. It had promise.)

No idea about He-man 2003 but there's always hope if Hasbro needs more money.

Samurai Jack no doubt remains the best of the CN's family I've seen. It to me soldified Genny's hold as a household animator and director.
